Wizard Jay, when exactly did Coppell say he wasn't being given any money or the backing of the board?
I think he was happy with what he had, and I think we all were until January. No need to spend money for the sake of it.

I just find it hard to believe that a manager that apparently had millions to play with, refused to spend it. But maybe he he did.
And if there was unspent money, where is it now? I bet we don't see Rodgers spend much this summer. Maybe one big signing as we used to have, around £800,000 and a couple of bargain basement signings. But not these missing millions.

Certainly did - and was also more worried that a new signing would cause more damage to the team dynamic than improve the team.

So the budget is looking healthy this summer! Excellent. I look forward to your opinions as to why we spend next to bollock all this summer.

IMAMATEOFJOVSKY Howe has already set it up by saying that the yuong players are the future - not doubting that - but it firmly makes a statement that there arent going to be players coming in
Nigel Howe on the OS Of course some players are going to be brought in to assist them and keep them together, but I think we have a fantastic Academy, it's tremendous

Good to see others are seeing the easy logic here.
I've made this point very clearly on other threads and haven't had a single even half-decent comeback.
Let's assume Coppell just pigheadedly refused to spend millions available to him on transfers AND WAGES.
Those untouched millions (and in fact FAR MORE SINCE with big player sales and parachute payments - although a small amount of these extra funds will be eaten up with the wage/attendance deficit of being in the champ) will assuredly be at the disposal of BR, who needs them more than ever now given we have to practically rebuild the team.
I hope those with their heads up Madejski's rectum have been right all along and he really is intent on spending the money but was just extremely unlucky to have the only manager in the history of football to refuse to do so.
It's already "all gone quiet over there" ever since I raised this point several weeks ago from the once vociferous gang of the Poor Old Madman camp.
I watch and wait with glee and anticipation.
