Certainly in January we made contact with Barnsley and had agreement in principle for a deal if SHunt left.

I think the other Royals related story on there is more interesting - Martinez looking to take Cisse to Wigan !

Harry Carry FAO SPACEY

Fair play. ;)

But it doesn't necessarily mean it will happen - after all, there are no direct quotes from anyone from Reading. Or Barnsley for that matter.

Wasn't he a 'dead cert' to sign in Jan and nothing surfaced? Rehashed rumour.

Please file with Herman Hreidarsson, Darren Powell & Gary Alexander.

See my post above - we absolutely, definitely, 100% agreed a deal with Barnsley in January for him if SHunt left. Then SHunt didn't.....

LOL I heavily doubt Cisse would fit anywhere in a Martinez side, you have to be able to pass the ball for a start.

Djibril Cisse.

Or is that a whoosh?

Anyway, have we had the pleasure of SHunt actually leaving yet? As far as I can tell, there isn't a void to fill.

I think he'd have been a good signing in January, but an even better one now that we have Rodgers in charge.

Rodgers will almost certainly be looking to play his flavour of 4-5-1 as he did at Watford and I think JCR would be a good fit for us on the left.

Personally I thought he looked pretty good last year and I'd be happy with him coming. Similar feelings on Scott Sinclair also.

Assuming we're going 451 or 4141 next season, there's not much space for S Hunt in the team anyway - you need to be able to carry a genuine goal threat from the wide positions. I think that Tommy Smith will be targetted by Rodgers to bring this (great record from midfield last season). I'm not sure how JCR's goals/assists record stands up?

Scored 9 goals in 40 games this season, finishing as joint top scorer for Barnsley.

Before that he's not been the most regular of scorers though.
