Forbury Lion Simon Cox (both of them)
Shaun Goater
Bobby Convey (debatable, one season wonder)
Alex Haddow

Who was the left winger from the youth team that Tommy Burns picked a few times?

Add to that Seol? (In the context of one season wonder)

Wasn't that Byron 'sniff, sniff' Glasgow - whatever happened to him?

Bizarre list.

Makin had a decent career, at the end of which he made a valuable contribution to the greatest RFC season ever.

Anyway, my nomination is James Lambert. He kind of did make it ... then chucked it all away.

Ginger Ninjas Get rid of the likes of Keown, Makin (who never let us down) and Ferdinand for those players tipped to shine, i'm thinking:

Peter Castle
Darren Campbell
Jamie Young

These would be a cornerstone of the "Played for Reading but for less than 90 mins XI thread that I, as an anorak, keep meaing to start.

Add in Micheal Dobson - that's 4.

Yep, he was utter pants and touted as the 'second' Bryan Robson at the time. Ended up playing in the Reading Sunday League.

You can add Roger Joslyn and Dave Shipperley

Surprised some of Burns other misfits haven't been quoted: Mark Reilly, Jimmy Crawford and that wonderful Scottish B International Jim Mcintyre!

Gary Heale looked a good player, didn't he just quit the club to live with an American super model in LA?

Sean Evers and Mark Reilly are probably the worst players I've ever seen in a Reading shirt, not forgetting Peter Van Der Kwaak.

Throwing about names such as Convey and Lita is ridiculous. They both hit 50 appearances for us and played a big part in the 05/06 season, and Lita had a run of form in the Premiership. They made it, they just didn't remain at the heights.
