Royalee
rfcjoe W8 m8, was you saying bollox to what I said? :?

I said bollocks to the rumour, because I know it's bollocks seeing as I know Doyle wants to stay here, Rodgers doesn't want to sell his best player and there's been no contact whatsoever from any club.

doyle has always been the subject over transfer speculation every transfer window and nothing has ever happened. He has even said on sky sports that he wants to stay. Now if its quite possible that some cheeky journalist has just looked at the fact that hahnemann now plays for wolves, new to the prem, looking to strengthen, former reading player talks about possible transfers, reading looking to off load most expensive players and put them all together to make a rumour. It's quite possible the club may want to cash in seeing as we have the emergence of church, baggie, an improved long, a good striker in n.hunt and mooney who did well at norwich, plus the possible signing of smith. Its also possible no-one has bid for him YET. but as pre-season approaches more transfers will happen and it would not surprise me if a more established team puts a bid in.

But until we hear from Royalee or the club its fair to say these rumours are tosh.

I wonder how long your faith in Brendan Rodgers would last....

Enough with the negativity already.

Well said!

Welcome to the positivity camp!

Maybe I should rephrase my post:

I wonder how long your positivity would last.....

There's no doubting that a decent Premiership club would be attractive, but like I said he wants to stay at Reading and there has been no contact whatsoever, so this rumour is absolute bollocks - if Wolves had proper money to spend like is being touted here then they wouldn't be signing the likes of Marcus Hahnemann.

Well of course they would. He's an experienced goalkeeper with Premiership and international experience and he's a free. You're on shocking form today.

And they get to save the money they do have to spend on players who will cost them...

I don't reckon they have the cash to be honest even after going up and looking at their squad and the fact that without Mancienne they struggled defensively last season I can't see them staying up or attracting any decent players.

They're ran pretty sensibly. Not much between the two clubs in all honesty, which shows how far we've come. I can remember being in awe of Wolves and their custard bowl stadium in 94 when we went up there after winning Div2.

I can't see them spending what will be a majority amount of their budget on one player. Unless they're suddenly becoming risk takers. Can't see it.

Wolves had a young emerging team last season, they should get the chance to show they can step up, i cant see them going silly with money either, Stoke went a little silly, but WBA and Hull did not go too OTT.

When we get to the prediction thread i shall be predicting Stoke and hull to drop.

You don't think Hull spent much? :| Have you seen the wages Giovani and Bullard are on?

What did they spend in the transfers in the end?

Bullard was bought in the Jan window when they were doing well and lookin g good to keep doing well, £5m was the cost, no idea of wages. giovanna is listed as a free transfer from Man City, and again no idea of what his wages are.

you can look here at total transfers if you want, Hull hardly took the championship by storm like the 106 team, neither did Stoke, so i reckon thats why they spent a bit, WBA were more cautious, experience may show who was right.

Royal Lady "WE" won't get the £6.5 million - so it doesn't really matter what he goes for, if he goes. We'll not have any money in the kitty to replace him. We'll have to make do with NHunt, Long and Mooney and pray they don't get injured.

RL, Jay has become more articulate and stolen your log in.

RFC will get the money and it will benefit the club. RFC WILL bring in a replacement striker if Doyle goes. Entirely correctly that doesn't involve spending £6.5m.
We're having to "cut our cloth" again - we'll be lucky if Rodgers gets in excess of £1 million to purchase replacements.

Back to your positive, cheerful and optimistic self I see!

If he does go then it would be a big shame. Would definately need to replace him with another striker though tbh.

Moxley said they would spend a lot more than they did last time and said basically they went down cause the underspent, sound familiar?

Doubt Wolves would be his 1st choice, but if bigger sides don't come in for him, take a year at Wolves, score 10 league goals and clubs will be all over him again. Think Wolves are trying to get in early. Reminds me of us and Lescott when we 1st went up...

I can understand why he'd want to move on but I think he can do better than Wolves. Could do a job for one of the mid table clubs for sure. I hope Villa go in for him.

Doyle to Wolves?

by Wolfatthedoor » 19 Jun 2009 14:33

Oxford off all you Royals - glad I got that off my chest!

Anyway, seems unlikely to me, but what are the chances of Wolves signing Doyle?

At the price in today's Sun, £6.5m, it won't happen. I can see Wolves testing RFC with a bid of £4m or so.
