My vote goes to Trevor Senior. Not much of a footballer, but absolutely lethal in the box.

A good vote, classy player. Sadly i only got half a season of seeing him before he left.

Trever Senior scored some fantastic volleys from long range as well as the usual poacher goals he was famed for. His ratio dippped a bit during his second spell at the club. Although Blackman and Mcphee scored plenty it was in an era where it wasn't unusual for players to score 4 or 5 goals in a game on more than one ocasion through out the season.

Harry Carry

Nope it was David Lee. 5 goals in 5 games from centre back. Nobody can match that record I'm afraid.

boy1985 Robin Friday. He is the most Deadly
You could take Steve Death for similar reasons.

Don't confuse most prolific goalscorer with deadliest.

Percy Freeman-depending on what your definition of deadly is. I used to stand behind the goal at Elm Park and I was worried at times

I am glad somebody remembered Ronnie Blackman. Unfortunately his era was too early for us to be able to watch any film of him. I hope I am right in thinking that in his day they played with a leather ball which can't have made it easier.

Trevor was a deadly finisher in the box and scored a lot of his goals by hitting them early (Gary Westwood told me once that was the resaon Trevor was so prolific). Quinny could score from anywhere; a great scorer of goals and a scorer of great goals. I cannot readily recall the details of any goals that Trevor scored, but many of JQs. I would (just) give it to Trevor Senior.

Going strictly by time spend in the opposing teams half divided by goals scored it would have to be Adam Federici.

Ian Royal Someone (strap?) put up a comparison for me a season or so ago, when I was arguing that Kitson was the best striker I've ever seen at the club.

I'm pretty sure you had to go a long way back to better him. He had pretty close to a goal every 2 games average. Clearly that's going to have dropped off a little now admittedly.

I think Strap's criteria was that you had to have played at least 10 games. Can't remember who topped it, think it was a guy I'd never heard of before.

Phil Stant got 2 in 4. Well, 2 in his first game and then played another 3.

I do remember that thread - Kitson was pretty much up there before he came back.

Not easy, but certainly not exactly hard to get a good percentage in only a small sample, hence the 10 games min.

Frank Richardson averaged over 1 in 2 back in the 1920's, just to give the old boys a shout

Dave Gale On my old Year of the royals video i enjoy watching Quinn's rockets during the 93/94 promotion season. His consolation goal in the Wembley defeat the following year was lethal as well, i guess it's not remembered so much as it counted for little but it was a rocket!!

Like you, I've been watching that video this week and some of Quinn's finishing that season (93/94) was simply exceptional. Someone like Curo just knew where the goal was and while Forster would do the other side to finishing (ie running with the ball, positioning, playing on the last man of the defender) but would often take 1 goal in every 3/4 chances per match.

Although he played central midfield as much as centre back during that loan spell

He looked a class apart back then, shame he failed to do anything with all that talent

The answer is Magnus (Tony) MacPhee, roughly 1 in 1 for 300 odd games! - only trouble is most of his goals were scored in WW2 games.

Ignoring him, and assuming we discount the David Lee's of this world ( 5 in 5 on a loan spell from Chelsea), Ronnie Blackman was the deadliest, based on goals per game.

Do you really want me to post the list?
