RoyalBlue Could be that REALROYAL and others are very good parents and will say 'no' to their kids. That doesn't mean that they enjoy doing it, that it is easy to do and won't cause some ructions in the short term. But then most good parents would realise that!

I'm certainly not holding myself out as a paragon of parenting, no. But it really is as simple as it sounds - if you think the price is too high then don't buy it. If enough people think so then the club will lose money and adjust the price in future years.

As to parenting, why is a football shirt any different to any other commodity that kids might want their parents to buy? If anyone's kids demanded a Playstation 3 each or anything else that the parent thought was too expensive or they couldn't afford then surely they'd just say "no" - both for financial reasons and to stop their kids turning into spoilt brats who get absolutely everything they demand. Why is a football shirt any different?

IMHO any parents who give in to their kids and buy whatever they want in order to avoid "short-term ructions" are just storing up problems later on - short-term ructions are part and parcel of parenting!

REALROYAL Id like to see a boycot by the fans for the new RFC shirt.. £10 off is no big deal when you have 3 kids all as season ticket holders. Plus short & socks..

Its not as if there will be any real investment in the playing staff. I feel we are being ripped off.. :?:

So don't buy it.

The club is offering it for sale - but it's not compulsary to purchase it.

If you feel you can't say "no" to your kids then I suggest you need to re-evaluate your parenting skills.

So why buy the kits all at the same time? What's wrong with one per month?

I think it's a pretty good deal this year tbh. £10 off already, plus a further £10 off for ST holders. £25 for a brand new home shirt? Never thought I'd see the day.

Isn't there a FL regulation that says that the shirt numbers must be on a plain background? Therefore, little likelihood of complete hoops. I share your sentiments though.

Only read your post Rawls....life is too short to read the rest.

However, why have the Club deemed it necessary to change the kit after only one season, afterall, its not as if we have to meet the rules of the Prem or a change of sponsership or anything?

Sure its all been asked before, but so what?

What happened to the two-year per kit....... gentlemens agreements?

1 thread on a new home kit might be nice (I don't mean a cotton thread, but a HNA? thread clearly).

meh. They want to make money. I have no problem with it really. I do have a problem with people who moan that they're fleecing them with releasing another shirt so soon for so much money. There's no obligation to buy clearly (that's not a dig at you AS). I wasn't going to buy the kit this year but if it is indeed fully hooped and £25 then I think I will.

If you mean fully hooped that the hoops go round the back of the shirt? Forget it. Wont happen. FL regs want the backs plain for the numbers.

Thanx Rawls

So what happened to the gentlemens agreement though? (it wasn't just Reading, but was cast accross the majority of league teams)

I thought that was a Premier League stipulation.

No, there isn't. Hoops all the way around would most definitely be allowed.

Now breathe.

I guess it went the way of all gentleman agreements when they realise how much money they could potentially make.

Personally, I like the way the FA do it with the England shirt. One new kit every 4 years for home and away, alternating so you essentially get a new kit every other year. I think that RFC could probably make just as much money if they bought out a new home kit every 2 years (on the even years) and a new away kit every 2 years (on the odds). Probably would find that more people would buy home and away kits as it would just be 1 kit every year that you'd need to buy. Anyway, like I said, I don't have a problem with them bringing a new one out every year. Wearing older kits is now a sign that you've been a fan for longer anyway. Shame I don't have any that are older than 4 years old as I gave all mine to the Ugandans a few years ago.
