James Harper “It was a pain but I haven’t told Brendan that because things may change under him,” he argued.

Yep, a Captains role, whinge to the media instead of talking to the Boss. One would hope that this little interview rules him out. And this, coming from I who is generally pro-Harps....

Got to say fair enough to Harps for openly critisising Coppell as he is the only one to have the guts! It's true what he says about he's always the easy target. He's a big player for this Club and will play a big role next season.

My opinion of him has just dropped.
That's a "OMG PLEASE DON'T MAKE ME CAPTAIN EVER AGAINNNN!!" and then you can see the cogs turning, saying "Don't upset the manager..." "IT COULD ALL BE DIFFERENT, OFC."
 Arse.

I like Harper a lot, and it was worth a punt to see if captaincy worked, but I don't think it did. His game changed and it seems to have not been good for him.

Excellent vice captain or vocal leader on the pitch, but official captain? No don't think so anymore.

Shut up Harper, you complain about being subbed when you shouldn't even been starting in the first place given your inept performances for the past two years. He really has shown his complete lack of intelligence in that interview.

Also interesting to see both Gun and Pearce the captain's armband last night at Didcot.

yeah i thought the same about Gun and Peace captians

i think this may happen

Gunner for 1 year... then retired and take a coaching role within reading... then pass the armband to Peace who has Gunner to show him the ropes

Gunner won't be captain

Gunner will be lucky to play in half of the games this season and you can't have a captain that will onl play in half of our games this year.

One thing for certain is that the captain has the be someone that will be picked in every game that they are available for. This is why i think Pearce, Harper or even Armstrong are more suited as they aree more likely to be playing in evey game.

I'm convinced it'll be Tabb - at least until Pearce is old enough and sure to be a regular starter - then it's his for as long as he's here.

Think thats a really good shout. Very impressed with him in the last few games of the season and get the feeling he fits Rodgers' ethos pretty well.

who knows who the captain will be... but all i know its there were about 5 people on that field who would be able to... (and 1 off)

we have a team of leader... the problem is when someone is picked will the rest become followers

Having watched the second half at Didcot last night I assumed Harper was the captain. I know he is usually very vocal but last night he was at it non stop.

Apparently Pearce was captain but I didn't realise that until today. I know he has a massive future but he didn't look much of a leader out there. However he did have a moan at kebe which I enjoyed.

Tabb was Coventry captain, was he not?
Would not mind him being captain - but I wouldn't mind Gun, Ingi, Pearce, or Smith.
