(.)Boobies(.) A very reliable friend tells me we wont be going back with a new offer. But we are close to bringing in a defender.

brendywendy in last years team thats fine
i think we may need to pay that premium just to get someone of smiths experience
i know you can win stuff with kids, but the odd experienced head through the spine is definitely required IMO
id be just about happy with 1.8 for smith
in todays climate, and with our bulging coffers

That won't happen until the TV companies start losing money and decide to reduce the value of the bidding wars.
So the quicker you all stop renewing your subscriptions, the quicker we can start getting back to proper football played on a more level playing ground for all.
Still hoping that soon one of the big clubs will go under....

In fairness to Sheff Utd they really seem keen to go for it this season, I suspect they are spending the money they've got from the West Ham settlement. I can't see us matching the bid for Smith, so its likely he'll end up there along with a few good other players if Sheff get all their targets. Given how close they got last season and the way they've strengthened I'd put them up there as favourites.fozziebear Sheff Utd have bid £2m for Man City striker Ched Evans.

Bath Hoopsfozziebear Hard to believe where all the money is coming from with Cardiff, given the cost of the new stadium you'd have thought money would be tight but they've certainly splashed the cash as well. I can't see us spending anything like those levels, in fact I'd be surprised if we managed to spend 1-2 million.
