rhroyal In conclusion, I'm leaving decision making to the club and am glad the responsibility doesn't fall on me.

As if anyone on here could influence Reading's transfer policy.

He didn't say that he could influence them. You got sight problems as well?

You what?

Royal Rother IN: Reading Football Club will this week complete the double signing of Chelsea's Jack Cork on a season long loan, and also Tamas Priskin will join Brendan Rodgers at Reading on a 4 year deal for £1,000,000 rising to a possible £1,400,000 if Royals earn promotion within that contract length..

A Watford supporting colleague of mine (still very bitter about what he regards as Rodgers' betrayal and delighted that we lost out on Smith), says he would be over the moon if they got £1M for Priskin. He also suggests that we learn the Hungarian for 'Jump, you lazy barsteward!', as we are likely to find it very useful!!

Mark Randall on loan from Arsenal.

Out: Reading have also agreed a £2m fee to sell defender Andre Bikey, who will join French club Marseille in the next 14 days.

Okay, it's only from football-rumours.co.uk but worth the occasional look...

Well that sums that lot up then...

No indications so far. But the longer it goes on, you have to wonder what's happening with the Sheff. U. bid. Are they haggling over the contracts?

May be that the player doesn't really want to go there and Sheff Utd seem keen to 'blow' the monies received from the Tevez affair as quickly as possible. They also seem keen on other strikers.
Could be an interesting few days ahead!

Maybe at 29 he doesn't want a long journey to work or uproot his family.

Damn the club for not conducting its business in private - or at least calling me with a daily round up :!:

Maybe Smith has such a high regard for BR that he is prepared to join us to link up with him here, rather than take a step into the unknown with someone else?

In which case we would have to make a bid that Watford would accept. Would they take something substantially less than £1.8m?

Also, excuse me for not knowing this, but would Watford be able to tell him to go to Sheffield whatever because they want the transfer fee?

No, he's not obliged to go anywhere and could simply stay and run down his contract as Lita did last year when we accepted a bid from Sheffield Utd for him. Just because a club accepts a bid, doesn't always mean that the player fancies the move.

Indeed - it's then up to the club to decide whether to let that asset depreciate to zero in a year, or accept a lesser sum to get what they can immediately.

Watford are obliged to pay him until the end of the contract they signed with him up to the point where the two parties agree to break it.

Unless they had some quite extraordinary clauses inserted that means that they can force him to go elsewhere they can't make him sign for any club he doesn't want to. They can of refuse to accept any transfer bid made for him if they don't want to accept it.

What on earth are we going to do about SHunt then, the silence from other teams is deafening at the mo - we're going to be saddled with him and his humungous salary until the end of his contract if we're not careful.

He's been linked in the papers with 2 or 3 clubs, what more do you want just a few days into the silly season?

And lets not forget Shorey, where the silence was deafening right up until a week before the season started and he went to Aston Villa.
