This season is going to have alot of youmg, talented "Reading type" footballers eager to do well, sprinkled with a few old heads playing neat, passing football to delight us all.

This season will have a great FA Cup run, only losing in the SF to Chelsea.

We will have 1 game postponed, and 2 games decided by an own-goal.

Blue and White Toucan With a team that was mid table at best since January and without seemingly adding any strength at this moment in time I could possibly go on the side of deluded!!!!

Deluded? If Brendan Rodgers ever gets a Reading team to qualify for a european competition I'll give the entire squad a piggy-back to the away leg.

BR will, I'm convinced, take the cups seriously. He believes they give momentum, and thinks that Watford's run to get clear of relegation came from the momentum of their good cup run.

I am loving everything this man comes out with so far!

We would have been in Europe two years ago had Coppell not played down our chances (leading to our failure to beat a relegated Watford in the last home game).

Someone with true ambition was exactly what this club needed. No point setting goals unless you make them challenging and aspirational.

If there isn't any real news soon, he's going to literally implode with his own hyperbole.

two different style, both equally valid with their own strengths and weaknesses.

Play down success and take it one game at a time to try and keep pressure off the players and club, whilst going out and trying to win each game as hard as you can, but risk not being able to turn around a bad patch if the players lose faith.

Or build as much confidence and hype around the players and club as you can to try and carry them forward and build a sense of euphoria that brings more out of the players and club than they actually have. Whilst piling on a lot of pressure and risking things going horribly wrong, very quickly if things don't go well.

You could probably argue quite effectively that you should probably alternate the style of a new manager coming in, as the difference in style is one of the things that can give the club a big kick up the backside and help propel it forward, using the strengths of the previous ergime and countering it's weaknesses.

Not going to happen whilst we're 18th in the Championship. Boo.
Rodgers OUT.

Royalee Back to the subject, what a breath of fresh air Brendan Rodgers is - finally someone in charge talking up the club and breeding positivity which was sadly lacking previously.

+1.
His interviews are something to look forward to, whereas Sir Steve's were always a bit of a bore, except for when he said we were in "shitty waters", that was pretty darn funny!

Just depends on your sense of humour.

I ound Coppell extremely witty and interesting to listen to unlike most managers. I find Rodgers more inspirational, but also more easy to switch off as he seems to mouth the usual cliched bullcrap more.

I switched off every time Coppell sat on the fence and bottled saying anything, which was about 5 seconds into most of his interviews.

Certainly refreshing for me. After all, the Copp's philosophy of one game at a time also became the player's mantra whenever quizzed by the press.

Okay the proof will be in the pudding, so let's wait and say before we start shoving the icing and the cherry on top.

That is the best interview I've ever seen a Reading manager give having just been on the Evening Post Website.

I wouldn't quite go that far (are you in love with him?) but fuc k me, this is a new era with bells on, isn't it? And he's upset Watford again. This is shaping up to be the most interesting pre-season in many a year.

I found this a fascinating interview with far more substance to it than the recent official site spin. I particularly liked how comfortable and confident BR seems in the role, as a (relatively) young man barely a month into the job. I must say though, it is totally out of order talking about another club's player when we have not had a bid accepted for him :|
