PremAddict First interview of BR I've watched and I have to say I'm really excited about what he's preaching e.g. passing, different shapes, choosing the most talented players, etc. Let's see what happens on the pitch but I'm very encouraged...

Mention of other players doesn't bother me. I always thought the club was a bit too coy at times. I prefer secrets to be leaked well ahead of time!

Which interview was this?

I think Rodgers has upset their Chairman again:

http://www.watfordfc.com/page/NewsDetail/0,,10400~1717118,00.html

FOLLOWING further speculation regarding the future of talented Hornet Tommy Smith today (Wednesday), Watford Chairman Jimmy Russo has issued the following statement.

Russo said: "It is with disappointment that I have read Brendan Rodgers' comments regarding our player Tommy Smith, in today's online edition of the Reading Evening Post.

"I am somewhat disturbed as to how Brendan knows Tommy's future intentions.

"His comments are not very respectful to the fans and the staff at Watford Football Club and he must not forget that Watford gave him his first managerial opportunity.
"Reading have failed to meet our valuation of the player in question, in fact last week I labelled the bid "derisory".

"I am more than happy to keep the player at the club if our valuation is not met. He is a fantastic player who will have a huge contribution on the pitch next season if he is still a Watford player.

"This also means that we do not have to purchase a replacement for him.

"Unless we receive the appropriate valuation for Tommy, through the correct channels, then we intend to keep the player at the club, this I can guarantee 100 per cent."

That Quote doesn't say a lot for Sheffield's chances of signing him...

Is there just the slightest hint of the Jose Mourinho about all this? Has this old football club of ours started to grow a backbone and start to large it? I have got to listen to that interview :D

I agree completely agree with the Watford chairman, anyone who thinks that Brendon is correct for talking about any player that isn't on the books of Reading Football Club is crazy. How would you feel if it was Pards or McGhee talking like that just a month after they left, you'd all go mental. To be honest this all leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

95% of The Team board would be up in arms if another manager spoke about one of our players the way BR has about Smith.

Please, please, please, please do not spell Brendan, Brendon again!

Sorry - I share the same name as the great BR and people spell my name Brendon all the time, drives me up the wall!

I also get called Brian, Brodie, Byron and the big one....... Brenda

All a bit of a non story this isn't it, as hasn't Tommy actually said in the media that he would look forward to joining up with Brendan at Reading if the chance arose, so its hardly tapping up is it?

Depends if that was said after we'd tapped him up.
