You're going to have to explain that to poor little old dense me.

Have Reading officially made a bid of £1.2m? Have Watford labelled any bid of £1.2m as derisory?
Was our bid ~£750k?

Please expand.

Snowball God Jerko, you really are a troll. aren't you?

Where did "1.2 Million" come from?

The rumours on here that we're increasing our bid.

If that's not what you're refering to, please explain how I need to keep up, when all I'm doing is pointing out the totally obvious and incontestable fact, that three quarters of a million, is not "a million or so". It is a quarter of a million under a million. "A million or so" implies one million or a little more. Which is quite clearly incorrect.

I'm no Troll. You just don't make sense and appear to twist things to try and make the points you do.

Nobody else does. It's good to have someone who takes the time and trouble to prepare and present them.

Who cares whether they fit our own individual assessments, or whether they are repetitive and beyond some posters' comprehension? - to many of us they have been a useful and interesting addition to the forum.

The guy himself might be a complete knob for all I care - personally speaking I only occasionally scan the detail, which is all we need to do. The detail is only there to demonstrate the methodology.

People who spend more than a minute a day on Snowball's posts (even on his most prolific days!) are probably wasting their time, but the value is definitely there.

Oh, I see. RUMOURS (not posted by me) and no actual statement by me of any bid, but you extrapolate that to me saying "1.2 Million" and then attack me for it...

Here is my post. Now read it CAREFULLY and show me where I say ANYTHING about Reading FC, or any offer of 1.2 Million

So, in other words the only club to offer 1.8 million for Smith was a club WITHOUT ANY MONEY...

Seems about right.
Now which offer is "derisory"
(a) Here is a million or so, actual money
(b) Here is a pretend 1.8 million.

I don't need to explain ANYTHING to you, Jerko. You take anything I say and extrapolate it as you think fit. You have clearly shown yourself to be a kneejerking bullshitter. You just carry on.

I just love the way kneejerk DECIDES what one poster means by "a million or so"

According to him, it means £1,000,000 or more. He now can read minds.

So if an offer was £950,000 to £1,000,000 that WOULDN'T be a million or so?

So if an offer was £900,000 to £1,000,000 that WOULDN'T be a million or so?

Who says? Our IAN says. Therefore it's true.

Bollocks.

Let us be clear. I have not made ONE statement where I state what Reading have offered to Watford. But Jerko decides I have.

I do not say Reading have offered £750,000
I do not say Reading have offered £800,000
I do not say Reading have offered £850,000
I do not say Reading have offered £900,000
I do not say Reading have offered £950,000
I do not say Reading have offered £1,000,000

I do not say Reading have offered "a million or so"

Over to Jerk.

But apart from that - it seems that Ian jumps on any little error that you make...

Everyone knew what you meant, and it was actually a funny statement - but Ian picked the post, and look where it has gotten us... 1 page of bickering...

Do poms really having nothing more to do with their lives than contsant oxf*rd bickering and picking people's opinions apart ?

(sorry for the generalisation, but come on)

Some people on this board need to take a long hard look at their lives because they are bitter, arogant twats.

Makes for a good read though :D

PS - I like Snowballs stats.

Mike, where, in the above, did I use the word "Reading"?

Under (a) above, you and others ASSUME (or is it presume) that:

(a) Here is a million or so, actual money

refers to Reading FC.

Yet nowhere do I say a sentence which begins "Reading FC have made a formal offer of "a million or so"

I'm a professional writer. I make my living from it. Have done so for 17 years.

Too often people read something and answer something else.

All my "derisory" post was really about was saying that Sheffield's "offer"
like their alleged January offer for Lita, doesn't appear to have substance.

i was told at Didcot last night that 'some bloke' who works for the Watford observer knows that the 2 clubs have agreed £1.2m with add ons that match Sheff Utd's offer, and they are now sorting personal terms.

I have not read through the thread so if this has been mentioned then sorry.

So, as it wasn't Reading who made the offer of a million or so, which club did?

I had heard we went back with a new bid, this was apparently accepted on Monday, but Watford have been haggling for more in the add ons side of the deal. (no idea if there has been a conclusion on that yet) Smith, I'm told, has held talks with Reading - no idea how long for or how they're going though. I haven't heard anything about the what the new transfer fee is, but the £1.2m you say does seem about right, with a little cherry on top if we earn promotion.

Snowball, who did you mean in your 'here is a million or so' scenario then?

Well that was a boring and pointless argument. And for the record, a million or so is normally meant as a million or slightly more. Certainly not 250,000 less than a million. ANYWAY, grow up all of you.

I didn't mean ANYTHING (or anyone) other than the fact that there were offers that were ultimately more real than Sheffield's.

According to the Watford management they had two offers over £1,000,000 which they turned down before they received the 1.8M bid which they accepted.

Incidentally, the Watford site suggests we offered 800,000 (not 750,000) as our first try.

You say.

But I didn't mention Reading's offer (which was 800,000, anyway, according to Watford)

So, as it wasn't Reading who made the offer of a million or so, which club did?

See how you jump around illogically?

Just because I didn't say it was Reading's bid doesn't mean it WASN'T Reading's bid.

And this above doesn't mean I think it was (or wasn't)
