RUMOUR - Sölvi Ottesen

by IcelandicStokie » 19 Jul 2009 00:26

Reading make Ottesen bid

English Championship side Reading have emerged as frontrunners for SönderjyskE center back Sölvi Ottesen.

Celtic and Birmingham have both enquired about the player in recent weeks but Reading have stolen a march with an offer made yesterday but SönderjyskE are still reviewing it and are expected to give an answer on monday.

Gudlaugur Tomasson, Ottesens agent, told Morgunblaðið last week that the future of his client will be decided in the next two weeks.

Ottesen is regarded as the one of the best defenders in the danish Premier League.

Not sure I can cope with all this transfer activity.

He looks absolutely lightening quick, and seems to be able to play football on the deck.

Sign him up!!

I.S. Has he featured for the national team at all?

I know, I know. You can't judge a player by youtube. It's not a good level of football...

But he looks ace

He looks far to good for us! Looks like he plays right back and can possibly be a defensive midfielder...

Looks like he's got pace and decent touch on him. If it's true, let's hope it happens.

Mr YouTube is a better scout than Brian McDermott.

Blimey - he looks pretty decent. Love the 40 yard sprint to make the two footed tackle and cleanly take the ball. :P

Looks like Ivar's love child.

No doubt Ivar and Boris have had a quiet word with him.

Looks like a bulldog, dobt we'd go for him tho, probably would require a fee and having to pay some decent wages, not an an RFC sort of signing.

Looks good but some of those tackles!

Going to cost us about a million pounds if this extract is right.

Translated from Icelandic newspaper Fréttablaðið:

Celtic target forced to decline trial offer

Sölvi Ottesen has been forced to reject the chance to join Celtic on a trial after his club forbid him to join up with the Scottish side in the coming weeks.

The danish league season is just two weeks away and Sönderjyske dont want its start to the season disrupted with the player going away to train at another club.

“Sölvi is the best defender in Denmark and probably among the best in all of the Nordic countries so I think its a insult to him and Sönderjyske that he will have to attenda a trial period to get a contract,” a Sönderjyske spokesman told Icelandic newspaper Fréttablaðið.

“The fact that clubs in Italy, Holland, Spain and in Great-Britain have been enquiring about him tells a story and if a club wants him, there is no need for him to go out on trial.”

Ottesen is expected to leave Sönderjyske this summer but his destination is still unknown. He is rumoured to be valued at 1 million pounds.

Looks like he loves to attack the ball and make a tackle

Would be a little concerned that he seems a bit too keen to, and he might be a little rash in the tackle for the quicker pace of the game over here. I wonder how many mistimed ones you could stick in a youtube clip too

Looks pretty decent though, and if he can double up as right back as well that would be handy

He looks quality, although with our referees some of those tackles would have been given as fouls.

Oh god yes, sign him up.

I dont know about some of those tackles being given as fouls in this country, i think theyre more likely to be classified as rape.
