Two bus prices in the "greater Reading urban area" (or whatever thay call it now).
£1.70 for a single
£3.50 for an all day bus-about (unlimited trips)

Charles Dapper It's not a surprize really.
More I think something should be done
They have got away with it for 2 long.
How much are the rugby buses?
Does STAR have any opinion on this?

Sun Tzu It does seem very expensive for what is a short bus ride (assuming it's the town buses).
Your guess of numbers of bus users is way out i would imagine though, 10000 would need 100 or so buses and with the best will in the world and even allowing for lulitple round trips there are not 100 bus trips on a match day. I'd be surprised if there are more than 3 or 4000 using the buses - whether halving the price would change that I'm not sure.
Irish may subsidise the buses to some extent. Bear in miond they relocated from London and quite a few of their fans still travel down. IIRC they used to run a bus service from their old Richmond (?) base and that may have transformed into a subsidy on the buses coming from town to help out those who travel in by train from London.

Ian Royal Personally I prefer to walk. It's good excercise and you can walk along the river for much of the way which is quite pleasant if the weather is ok.

Indeed. 45 min walk along the river, which ain't a lot less than the bus once you factor in queuing at the station which can easily take 15-20 mins. But, remember, this is Reading which seems to have a uniquely lazy population.

peterroyal76 I know when we first moved to the Madstad tickets were only 50p and the club were subsidising the prices.
And I know everything has to go up inflation, fuel and staff costs etc........but surely £4.00 is too much?
We are being ripped off again as Reading buses know they have a captive market and not everyone can drive or walk to the ground.
Is there anything we can do?....................probably not!

Harpers So Solid Crew why should a fan have to find a different bus company, he has come to the STAR section of HNA to ask if perhaps STAR could get involved, yet once again gets the old response, why not join and help as we cannot do it alone, and we cannot peruse HNA to see if something is posted on here.
Perhaps he/she is a STAR member, and perhaps he/she thought this was the place to ask for advice or to see if STAR are interested.
We know that all the STAR folk are volunteers, but does it really need this same response so often?
