Nobody else spot the irony of LA Galaxy fans abusing the player who has made LA Galaxy known outside Southern California?

I couldn't but help snigger at those images; I wondered exactly HOW long those guys had been "fans" of a team that has been going for a few Years.

As for doing the same, if and when Beckham plays at Reading, I'm sure some people will boo him.

Can't help feeling that he would not have signed for this irrelevant football club were it not in California and the attraction that part of the world holds for his utterly dreadful wife.

Given our decade long abuse of FSB, for simply taking another job having been given permission to speak to the club concerned, I won't be slagging off Galaxys' fans anytime soon for justifiably feeling short changed on this deal..............................get out anyway you can, Becks, and show some contrition in the process.

Where's the irony?

The bigger slice of irony was Beckham telling John Terry not to go to City as he should play at the top level in order to stay prepared for England at the World Cup.

LA Galaxy must of given permission for Beckham to stay with Milan shirley?
On the other hand, if he really wanted to continue playing for England why did he move to a tin pot Yank team. He can't really expect the fans to welcome him back with open arms.

Agree that booing players is pointless and moronic. Unless we want to look like a bunch of redneck inbreds.
Hunt's gotta be careful though, we could still see Sidwell give 100% when he wanted out.

I will happily BOO S Hunt if he starts the season so the club know how much the fans hate him and realise that he's not a model pro. However I'm still living in dreamland that some premiership club will be stupid enough to come in for him. I'd pay to get rid of him

I love this thread. I just love the way we learn from experience. I mean booing Seol was just sooooo effective. You could just see how it lifted him. And it was just sooooo useful that we ended up with no right winger at the beginning of that crucial season.

Beckham moved as he thought that he wouldn't feature for England as Steve McLaren had publically stated that he wouldn't play him. He then back tracked as he realised that Beckham was better than most of the other players available.

As one of the other posters noted Beckham is one of the few players that is proud to play for England

clearly our players should be harassed as often as possible, because that'll only want to make them play harder and give more to a team who's fans despise them

oldebiscuit Noticed on yesterdays news that the Galaxy crowd gave Becks a bit of grief over his decision to play half the US season in Italy. It was good to see that they had no time for disloyalty and the fact that his heart was not at their Club. Is this an example that we should follow? Should our 'want away warriors' be given the same treatment? If they do not want to be at Reading then should we help them on their way with our feelings? Discuss...
If we ever found ourselves in the equivalent of the MLS, say the unibond premier south and one of our players choose to play half a season for AC Milan I think I would count my blessings that we had such a player for half a season.

Fact is Galaxy signed him, Galaxy loaned him out.... The club should be the target here, not the player.

IMHO Beckham is playing to the abuse so that he can use it as an excuse for demanding a transfer.

yep, because Galaxy chose to have a player who accounts for 1/4 of their entire budget limit unavailable for half the season.

Galaxy's problem was bending over backwards to accommodate Beckham, letting him bring in his own manager (Gullit, who was a disaster), then getting shafted by him demanding to extend his loan once out there, rather than returning when originally agreed.

If Beckham want to leave their are two options.

a) Milan buy him. Currently they don't want to pay the asking price.
b) Beckham can buy out his contract. He wouldn't do that though, as that would have an impact on him financially, and regardless of what else he says, that's always his No.1 priority.

Ps anyone who thinks MLS is on par with the Unibond South really is an utterly clueless gimp who believes the sort of crap Rodney Marsh says on Sky Sports, and probably really believes it when they hear it's a "pub league" played in front on near empty grounds, in a country where the women's game is more popular. It's remarkable how the most wifully ignorant people always regard themselves as experts.

...just like Willenhall Town v Spalding United.

Apologies, I didn't realise you supported a Unibond South team. No offence meant.

Seriously though, The problem is Galaxy - They signed the player on astronomical wages and then allowed the player to go out on loan. They should have put their food down and said no.

It will make me feel a lot better.

Got me thinking for a change. Maybe I should get a massive sheet and have a big old bit of abuse on there and drape it over the WSU balcony.

can hardly see the comparison in the two examples tbh. you counldnt get much further apart than Beckham and SHunt.. one a superb free kick taker and can play a cross field pass inch perfect.. the other is a mop head with an ego.
but as much as i dont rate the man and as little as i like his 'come get me' attitude  he is for the time being a reading player, and as such will continue to get my support.. if only for the good of the team. boo'ing a player does absolutely nothing for the player and for the club as a whole. as previously stated, he has a brother who is actually a good player who is also at this club.. what will happen if he sees the abuse his brother gets? will he think this is the type of club for him?
if shunt gets supported, his game may stay positive and we might get a last minute sale of him.. win win for all...
now please please please.. no more posts on SHunt..

Is Fester really suggesting that Noel is oblivious of the abuse and general feeling towards his brother? Really? Seriously?

Is that air you're breathing?

lol its at least 40% air anyway 8) im not suggesting hes oblivious to it. just that if he was to be collectively abused by a whole fan base. it would hardly give a good family memory would it?
