Platypuss Director of football Nick Hammond said: 'Jimmy is a winger who has a bit of pace and is a good size at over six foot tall. He is right footed but is comfortable on both sides of pitch.

'He's been playing in the French second division, so hasn't really been on people's radars. But we've been aware of him for some time. And every time our staff have watched Jimmy he's had a major impact on a game.

'Obviously it's a massive step up from that level to the English Premier League. But the same could have been said for a number of our players when they first came to the club.

'They have made the transition and we hope Jimmy can do the same.'

wasnt that just when they were trying to fool us into believing he was the answer to our right wing problems?

Less than half of what Hunt is meant to be on.The more I think about it the more convinced I am that Smith
will be at the Mad stad anytime soon.A million or so in their coffers and a bigish wage off the books. To bigger
overhead/income to resist.

Assuming we're still after Smith, we must want him alot. If that's the case we'd cough up £14k week no problems

I can't see the problem being his wage demands.

we can't bid until we sell Hunt as we have no money to spend on players

so the sooner we can get rid of Hunt, the earlier we sign Smith

Unlikely, given that there's no evidence a bid was accepted by the club so it wouldn't have got as far as personal terms. Incidentally, note that "big spending" Sheffield Utd are having trouble landing their targets because of the terms they're offering.

Tommy Smith didn't turn them down because of wages and I didn't know Little had turned them down (I've not seen it reported anywhere). Last I heard they were offering him a contract.

"Blackwell added: "I've offered Glen a contract, but I think his mum and dad want to get involved and his daughter and sister, so we'll see. He's done well and we've put in an offer that we think is genuinely worth taking into consideration."

I didn't say he'd turned them down. And I didn't mention wages. On Smith, the clubs agreed a handsome fee and the player did not come to personal terms. My only point is, primarily aimed at howser, that this is not some Reading thing where we're too cheap to sign the players we need.

So basically they are not have problems landing their targets due to the terms they have offered as you previously wrote. They could offer Tommy Smith more than he is on at Watford and he still won't go there. As for Little there is nothing in Blackwell's comments to suggest Little isn't happy with the terms offered. I would guess Little has an issue with moving his family north for what could be his last contract. Part of his reason for moving to us was because he wanted to be back down south near where he comes from.

Spin it how you like, if you want Reading to look bad. There's nothing I can do about that.

Fair points and no doubt true.We tend to forget things like wives/kids in the transfer equation and more
relevant in the case of Little.
