Pearce is a clear shoe in now.

Yeah looks as if Pearce is definately a good shout. Other obvious contenders are Gunnar and Ingi.

Shurely it's Pearce?
If you captain your side against Chelsea, you're bound to be the captain.

Looks like it's going to be Pearce... at least until Ingi gets back anyway.

Alex Pearce

by Barry the bird boggler » 03 Aug 2009 08:34

According to BBC Berks they reckon that Alex Pearce will be named as the club captain later this week - guess that also cements his starting place in the team.

If true, congratulations - a little bit sooner than I expected.

Question for Strap - what is currently the youngest age for a captain of Reading (Alex is 21 in November)?

Doesn't look like strap knows himself...

Royalee Pearce long term without a shadow of doubt and I'd be tempted to give it to him now.

He is my choice as well.

Intelligent, brave, through the ranks - our John Terry.

Be interested to ascertain how old Adie Williams was (and how many starts he'd amassed) before he was given teh job fulltime. Granted it was more than Pearce has at present, but "I like the cut of this man's gib", as they say.

I'd be happy with Pearce, he's done it at evey level at the club so it's the natural progression. Shows he's going to be a regular which will hopefully give him a bit more confidence for the season. I think he needs a centre half with a bit of pace next to him but the rest of his game is easily good enough for the CCC.

Not many other candidates really, Gunnarsson could be the 'club captain' perhaps but there is no way he is going to or should be playing 40-46 matches this season.

My first choice was Armstrong as I wasn't sure Pearce would play enough or was experienced enough.

Clearly Armstrong isn't going to be playing a great deal. I agree with you. I'd be happy to see PEarce be captain, having seen a bit more of him now.

Voted Ingi because I think it may be too soon for Pearce.
If it is Pearce however, would he be the youngest captain in the Football League?

Any idea when he's going to announce who it is? Maybe we're waiting for a new signing to come in the next couple of days who will be captain...

I want Pearce btw. I think he's young and hungry and very talented, and the club have been talking about him being captain material for a couple of years already. Being 20 has nothing to do with it. How old was Terry when he became captain? Honest question, he was young wasn't he?

Shafting myself? Isn't that what 'Sir' Steve Coppell does by resting his 'best eleven' in the cup before relegating a club?

Z175 Given BR is a Reading man, he probably goes on hob nob quite a bit. Who do we think should be his new captain?

Is Z175 BR in disguise?
