Ian Royal One of our best players of the last few years when in form.

BUT too much of an ego and not enough brains. A player who whilst trying to prove himself was so determined and confident in his play that everything came off for him. He tried pretty much anything and that frightens defenders, but he was never as skillful as he thought.

Once that determination and desire to prove himself lapsed post Xmas in both the last two seasons he lost his edge and stopped getting the rub of the green. Without that extra quality he put in hardworking but mediocre at best performances.

A player who truely did play above himself with us.

Good luck at Hull Hunty, you'll need it. But boy am I pleased you're finally off and for at least £1m more than I expected by the sounds of it.

Yes, agreed, although (and I guess I'm in the minority here), £3m for someone who has has proven himself in the premiership seems pretty fair to me. As mentioned earlier in the thread - for 18 months or so he was electric. The big question for Phil Brown is whether Hunt will ever be able to capture that form again. But a huge sigh of relief all round if and when he finally goes, especially if it means we can now get another forward (or two) in.

He won the player of the season because the chairman was so keen on keeping him and many people believe it was rigged. I don't know one person that voted for him, he was crap all season.

Great asset to any club when he's in form, we've all seen that.

Not been in form for about 18 months for Reading and quite obviously does not want to play in the tinpot mickey mouse league we're in at the moment.

God help Hull if they get regulated.

Im sure Ill get slated for this but I for one am sad to see Hunty move. Anyone who thinks we are worse off having a player like Hunty in our squad is way of the mark as far as Im concerned. Always gives 100%, pops up with goals, versatile, an international player and a very popular member of the squad and will be a huge loss.

However, for a player that we got on a free, he proved to be a great bit of business for us. There is not a player in our squad that wouldnt go to hull in the morning and anyone who thinks otherwise is being extremly naive. Its been a very good deal for both player and i dont believe we owe him anything or either does he owe us. I do agree he didnt go about the transfer in the right manner but I believe this was orchastrated as much by the club as by hunty to get him of the wage bill.

Its a pity as its now an end of an era with the large Irish Connection which is a pity as it meant a lot of coverage over here and also a lot of jerseys being bought too.

Unfortunately I do believe this to be a blow to us and we may struggle without him. 17 assists last year is a very large figure for a player who wasnt on the best form but there was never a game he didnt stop trying. He always gave 100% irrespective of any media comments and was envolved in putting Reading on the football map in the record winning Championship year and that great year in the premiership.

From death threats to the dodgiest haircut in football its been a rollercoaster of a ride with Hunty and I for one wish him all the best in Hull and thanks for all the memories.

Its not bullsh*t at all. Any player who doesnt want to be playing at the highest level are not the right type of player that we need to get promoted. fact. If we have any players who are happy at the level that we are at then we are in big trouble. Any players worth their salt want to be playing liverpool, arsenal, chelsea and man utd. Not all players are as blatant as Hunty was but if you think that any our players would turn down a 3 million move to Hull you are very much mistaken.

No young player with plenty of time on their hands would even think of moving to Hull. They're going down faster than Ian Royal's favourite rent boy.

Hunt doesn't have any niggling injuries that are going to make him fail the medical, are they?

No doubt the cheque will be written out to Mr J. Madejski. I would be excited about this if I new the money was going to be invested in the squad.

Ark Royal Not unless we use some of this pikey money to buy a new striker to replace The Doyler. That has to be No.1 priority. Smith or Nugent please!

Why one of those two, Ark? I have to admit I've never been all that excited abotu the prospect of spendnig seven figures on Smith. Nugent I think is a terrific talent, but it's somewhat worrying that he hasn't kicked on. I'd be enthusiastic about signing him, but not to the exclusion of anyone else. I'd definitely like to see us sign a real goal threat, but I'm not goign to throw my hat into the ring for a certain player purely on the grounds that we've been linked with them in the press.
