I am amazed that Burnley want to buy him after his last performance at Turf Moor, when he completely lost it.

Even though I think Bikey could be quality, generally this is a good move following the signing of Mills. I always thought it was pretty much on the cards once Ingi and Pearce were announced as captain/vice-captain; it meant there wasn't really any room for Bikey in the team. And with Cisse doing really well in that position as well, it would seem incredible having 5 players in that position.

starting to worry about the loss of so much experience
itll just be the icemen left, and with their injury records we could be in for alot of naive losses with a team full of kids.

i think hes worth more than 2.8, but i guess his temperament and inconsistancies have lowered the price
i do believe he has it in him to be world class.

i also question whether, despite their prem status, that burnley may not be somewhere bikey actually wants to go
but then maybe thats me being naive

I'll be gutted if he leaves.

He's the best centre back we have whose flaws have been massively exaggerated by people on here.

One of the reasons we struggled last year was that the woeful Duberry was preferred to him.

Bikey >>> Ingi, or Pearce, or an as yet unproven Mills, or Cisse.

It's become pretty standard now it seems to celebrate the moving on of quality players, the likes of which we haven't yet replaced (Hunt, Kitson, Hahnemann, probably Harper and Bikey too).

Sure, Pearce looks terrific and may even go further than Bikey in the game, but the jury is still out until he has played a full season. But let's not pretend we are better off with (another) £2.8m in the bank and Bikey gone, because we are not.

Getting 3x what we payed for a guy whos only started 44 games since August 2006 is very good business as we can hardly say we'd truly miss him.

We never got the best from him and we probably never will. Time to move on, so £millions is good news.
I shall look forward to seeing him on match of the day - there's bound to be a red card at least.

I've always liked Bikey but as mentioned elsewhere he is at best our 3rd choice centre back now. Doyle aside we have sold off players, 2 more if Bikey and Harper go who are not first team starters here anymore, and all for excessive money. We won't actually miss Harper, Hunt, Bikey in playing terms just like we didn't miss Sonko.

It will be a shame to see Bikey leave as he does have some genuine quality when he's in the mood, but with Rodgers new expensive signing being a centre half, Pearce as his captain, Ivar as his club captain, would push Bikey even further down the pecking order in a few weeks. With Cisse and in an emergency Gunnarsson who can also play in that position I think it's a wise move for all parties, not a bad one for Bikey either. Regular premiership football in world cup year.

Does it make sense if I 'gree with both? :|

The one big "IF" is how will Ingi play when he returns

Older players after a longish lay-off are not guaranteed to return to top form

Of course Ingi may have been carrying the injury a while and might be BETTER but there has to be some risk there.

Seems to me that IF Rodgers is letting Bikey go he has a CB lined up, probably a young loanee

As he always has. He's never had any pace. Same old reliable Ivar.

I'm hoping that Ivar doesn't get a game in the CCC this season.

I'm sure he didn't think he needed to spell it out but he's not wishing Ivar never reccovers but merely suggesting that if he were to play it would mean either 1 or 2 of Pearce,Mills or Cisse have proven to be not good enough or got injured themselves.
