PEARCEY
comeonthebiscuitmen missed the goal - what happened?

Newcastle cross from the left and their player headed it across and past Feds...good cross and header in fairness (with sh*te marking).
Newcastle are playing down the left hand flank all the time.

corrected it for you

We are playing some nice football but so far in 135 minutes of Championship football how many chances have we created. Matejovsky really should be on the bench at least.

After watching the first half, my urgent question has to be: is oxf*rd Kebe oxf*rd playing? The ball has to stick more up front and Long is not the player to do that.

Utterly pointless having Church out on the right. He's been shite. The youngsters look a little lost out there.

Second Half: Mills for Karacan (move Cisse into DM)
Robson-Kanu/Hunt for Church.

Not bad but too lightweight IMO and giving the ball away too easily at times.

Robson-Kanu on for Church.

I was wondering that. Perhaps they're too white as the Newcastle kit has a big white panel on the back. :?

We do look lightweight which in a physical division is not enough.

paultheroyal First half assessment.

One yellow for Smith was sufficient.
Passing not as sharp as last week but same approach.
Not enough urgency in final 3rd. Been a couple of chances for someone screaming into the box.
Church is not a right sided player and keeps letting his player go. Could blame him for the cross which led to the goal.
Nothing Fed could of done.

More urgency please 2nd half.

Robson for Church please.

Agree about poor Simon Church-chasing back is surely not his game.
I thought Pearce was out of position with the cross for the goal.
A few good signs for us but Long is no hold-up striker (if that is what he is meant to be doing).
It does look like a lot of people doing plenty of running around without a settled shape.
Still,it's only 1-0.

How old are the players you are suggesting that replace the "youngsters"?

2.8 lita injection I am loving the new Reading, now 2 hours 15mins and not a single shot on target in the league.

well take your blindfold off then, Davies had a great shot well saved last week and Pearce had a header easily saved in the 1st half

First time I have seen us and I echo the comments made above. Great passing and intent from us but too lightweight all over the pitch. I think we need to buy a tackling midfielder and a striker who can hold the ball up.

My substitutions would be:

HRK for Church,

Harps for Karacan,

Long for Hunt.

Kebe and Church both pretty poor going forwards and just not getting close enough to their man when defending. Hard to see us scoring unless it's from a setpiece or some kamikaze Newcastle defending.

Kanu needs to add some quality in the final third, and Mills has played over 100 league games.

HRK is also more physical than Church isn't he? Nhunt too compared to Long. Does Brendan make earlier subs than Coppell?
