That's TV money we would have got had we been promoted. Do you not know anything?

What did we do with the TV money when we had it? Build a big media suite and expand the hotel? I know exactly what I'm talking about.

Ha, the day-trippers that follow RFC are going to be LIVID that BR has stated that this team may take 2-3 seasons to be promoted.

Patience? I want my money back.

Seriously, it's quite a nervous response from BR, there is absolutley NO NEED for him to go cap in hand and placate the fans who went to the game yesterday.
Disappointed yes, but let's face it, they played very well and we were always going to lose against a quality performance like that, but be sure that not many pther teams will be able to, if they are consistent with what I saw yesterday, they will be promoted should they keep the Ameobi's etc, etc.
There was no boos, just a shrug and a phucking hell.
We can't compete with that.
Their death on the pitch has been greatly exaggerated.
Wish we played them on the 15th September.
The penny has to drop, if we sell our experience, bit by bit we may be left with players who need to go through results like these to learn from them ie experience.
I'm Mr Pragmatic and it's been a long time since we've been battered in a game from start to finish in this league, all ends up, gulf in class, pace, pressure blahdiblah.
There is at least one side better than us in this league, our stock maybe has dropped from Promotion Candidate to Play-off hopeful to midtable maybe?

Saying that, we'll probably go on a 20 game unbeaten run now.
But maybe not.
And Newcastle may not win another game until October.
But maybe not.

Our visible income so far this season, 12.5 million. (from selling prize assets)

Our visible income last year of the premiership 35 million. (free money whilst we got to keep prize assests)

Which year was our strongest position to sign players financially?

Don't see why we should throw the baby out with the bathwater.
Again the same old people panic, blimey.
If Newcastle maintain that standard, and from what I saw last year, I cannot think of a team that can match them.

I think we can match most teams, we don't have to play against a performance like that every week do we.

I'm all for patience with the new regime. When the majority of our players are 20 or younger, 2-3 years seems a reasonable time frame. What's a bit galling is that it's seven years since we simply weren't able to compete with teams like Newcastle. It's very reminiscent of Derby in August 02 and that's a long way for the club to have fallen back. Still, onward and upward. We will get better.

I think we have to say that although we were toothless and manipulated and bullied and stamped on, I can't think of too many sides (apart from us - ahhh when we ran tings) in this league playing with as much class, ability and skill.

There is no way they can be matched if they maintain that standard.
So well done Newcastle, how the hell you managed to be relegated from what I saw yesterday will remain a mystery.

I'm still confident that we're ok, why not, we only have 180 mins of football to talk about.
If we were undressed like that against a team (lots of disrespect) like Watford, then yes I would be going.......hang on a minute....

It takes two to tango - they won't be able to kep that standard up all season because most of the real promotion contenders will give them far more to think about than we did - eg WBA last week.

No. You don't, because you repeatedly refuse to accept the accounts when they are presented to you. You simply keep bleating the same old shit with no actual backing for it.

Birmingham, wolves, hull, stoke and burnley managed to buy players and most average less than us. How do you propose those equal and smaller clubs managed this? Genuine question.

Please do not insult anyone by mentioning leeds united. Thank you.

oh! shit,! we've got a completely new management team, a massive loss of experience from our squad, a whole host of young, inexperienced (yet talented) academy graduates playing for our first team and we haven't won a game in the league after 2 games! shit, we really must be screwed for the next 2 or 3 years.

Terminal Boardom 2 games in and the vultures start circling

Agreed, I feel we should wait until at least the third league game before calling for his head.

I merely find it very difficult to equate the same old rhetoric from Mr Mad "this shows our ambition" "aiming for Premiership football" blah blah blah, with the "have to cut our cloth" "we have no money" bollox - thank the Lord we did have 2 years in the Prem in that case, or quite obviously, we'd be in a pretty perilous state financially.

urzmikep Lets put in a decent bid for a young proven goalscorer (e.g. Leeds Jermaine Beckworth) before its too late!!

I heard theres this young striker called Simon Cox who West Brom snapped up for 1.5million from Swindon. Excellent scoring record in a shite team in the lower leagues. We missed the boat there...

RL, have you wondered what the wages for last season were? I mean, Hunt left here on 30k a week (£1.5m a year). Doyle rumoured to be on a little more on his bumper deal. Then there was a huge fee to loan in Kitson, and I assume a fee to loan back Little. You can argue there's a good £4m there. Then the rest of the squad. John Madejski isn't purposely holding us back. He wants us to run ourselves if we can, so you have to assume the money made both this season and last season is making that happen. And when we can't afford to run ourselves again, I'm sure he'll be the one that ensures the deficit is made up! I have though argued in the past that JM is holding us back. In terms of transfer budgets. But this summer you can't even argue that with the £2m signing of Mills, and a rumoured £1.5m bid for Tommy Smith.

Well I am not surprised by what has happened in the first two games when we have sold off all our prized assets and look like failing to act until it is too late in the transfer window. Why do we insist on failing to play our 'big money ' signings when we do capture them?? Not that I am that inspired by an 'ambitious' signing from Doncaster.

Most of the kids now in the first team were plying their trade on loan at lower league level last season, so with the lack of quality to support them and no proven consistent goal scorer in the squad this could be a long season of struggle and frustration. I just cannot see where the goals are going to come from and many more games of only one or two shots at goal will guarantee to drive the crowds away in droves.

The lack of a realistic transfer kitty to compete being given to the new boss to spend coupled with a piss take offer for Tommy Smith is really beginning to get people's backs up. Mr Mad seems more concerned with the filiming of his TV documentary over the past three years and seems to have lost all sense of what is required to run a football club successfully in the current economic climate
