Thames Why are Henley Town not in the FA Cup?

You've thrown up ( :o ) a mystery here - had a look and they've been entered since 03/04 - without much success - even 'scratched' a couple of season's back - the year after they were relegated out of the Hellenic Prem. - but there's no obvious reason why they didn't/couldn't compete this season.

There were five STEP06 clubs entered from the Hellenic this season and three have survived to the next round - Thame, Wootton Bassett & Milton.

Henley even won a couple of FA Cup matches two seasons ago - one was against higher opposition too.

... maybe the trauma of quick exits 0-6 & 0-5 in Cup & Vase last year was too much for them?

I'll have a 'ferret' about!

I went to watch AFC Wimbledon v Salisbury City on Tuesday night. First time I'd been in about four years and they've really moved on since I was last on the terraces at Kingsmeadow.

Really impressed with the club, run by the fans for the fans. Stark contrast to watching Premiership and Championship football, and reminded me of the good old days on the Elm Park terraces. I'll be going back this season I'm sure.

Another home win for Windsor & Eton, 2-1 against Yate Town gives maximum points after 3 games - surrendered top spot on GD to VT FC due to a last kick of the match own goal.

4 regulars rested and all replacements did well which augurs well for the strength of the squad.

(Martin Williams still not fit, but expected to be joining up soon I gather.)

After 5 games next few places are 2nd:Mansfield 3rd:Hatters 4th:AFC Wombles

..other selected results
Exiles [7th] won 4-0 vs Chelmsford
Staines 1-1 Welling
Bath 1-3 Beavers [9th]
... at the top are Dover won 5-3 v W-S-M.

SOUTHERN Prem
Farnboro won the game of the day - well in this division - 3-2 @ Truro - crowd 863
Diddy lost 0-1 v Hednesford

SOUTHERN 1SW & 1M
Robins 2-3 Gosport - were 3-0 down got two in the last 10 mins
Thatcham 1-1 Bedfont Green
Hungerford 1-3 Cirencester T
Slough won 5-1
Burnham won 1-0 away
Big home defeats for Aylesbury Utd 0-4 & Marlow 2-4

HELLENIC Prem
Reading Town won 1-0 @ Carterton now in 3rd place just behind Flackwell.
Ascot got thumped 4-0 by Abingdon Town :(
Binfield lost 1-3 @ Pegasus :(

... finally Eversley still not quite able to play home games at home - 'borrowed' Farnborough North End's ground (nr Fleet) and drew 2-2 with Croydon Municipal. They expect to be able to use their new ground off of Fox Lane next Saturday when Coulsden (5 defeats from 5) visit - so could be quite a 'housewarming'. 8)

boro very impressive - big and strong and can play a bit too. Truro did well to stay competitive even after going a goal and a man down, but it was just a matter of time.

Hard to beat football for less than a tenner that you can watch with a pint of draught Doom Bar in your hand.

I very much recommend going to see the Boro at Cherrywood Road if you have the chance. It's a cracking little ground now that the majority of the redevelopments are nearing completion and as you say, they do play some attractive football.

If anyone is stuck for something to do on Wednesday night, Didcot town are the visitors to Cherrywood Road as the Boro look to make it 4 wins out of 4.

Windsor & Eton drew 0-0 at Gosport Borough, to remain 2nd on GD.

Bracknell Town's manager resigned after the previous game (just 2 matches in charge but said he couldn't manage a team on the budget given) and last night they lost 8-0 at newly-promoted Bedfont Green, (who share W&E's ground).

Poor old Bracknell!

At Bracknell it gets worse...

No money
Manager resigned after 3 months
Players quitting as a result
Stuffed 8-0 at Bedfont Green on Tuesday
Still waiting for first point after 4 games

Last nights results

Thatcham win 3-1 @ Frome : )
Truro win 4-0 @ 'marine
Abingdon U get a 2-2 @ Bps Cleeve (bodes well for Reading Town on Sat.)

Oh and a special mention for Eton Wick in Wokkers division - perennially the wooden spoonists and receivers of some fearful drubbings over the past few seasons - they won (again) 1-0 last night in front of almost 70 - puts them in sixth place with THREE wins.
The exceptional thing about THREE wins is, that it is more than they have managed IN TOTAL for the last three seasons
(i.e 1 win 08/09; 0 wins 07/08; and 1 win 06/07!)

Bracknell Town have just appointed former Spurs defender David Tuttle as their new manager...... could be the turn in fortune they need.

2 more for Michael Chennells in a pretty comfortable win for W&E.

New signing Marcus Richardson (31 year old Reading bloke who has played for loads of clubs in League 2) came on as sub and looks pretty damned useful for this level.

Looking forward to hatfuls of goals this season as Keith Scott has assembled a very promising looking squad. I am particularly impressed with a youngster called Scott Thomas who is quite small but brave and strong with a great cross on him and a real touch of class.
