FiNeRaIn We are poorly managed.

We are " doing a leeds" without even being in debt

How does a club go from 8th in the prem to bottom 3 in the championship while being WELL IN THE BLACK. This is like a nightmare.

I think you will find we are hardly 'in the black'.

Whatever .... but after 10 games thats pretty near 1/4 of the season gone so if we had 8 points then the tally for the season would still be pretty crap ... relegation area ? you can put whatever spin you like on it but your only kidding yourself

23ish million pounds worth of outgoing fee's disagrees with you.

If the club are anywhere close to being in debt after that, questions have to be asked where they pissed away the money too. This club is not well run, its poorly run. Thats why we've gone from 8th in the prem to our currrent state and have bought fvck all in to stop the decline.

The current strength of our squad and where it currently lies in the table?

Does anyone know what, and who holds the football league record for 0-0 games in a season ? I fear a very dull and boring year ahead, especially now Bikey has gone. At least he would have provided some excitment. I honestly haven't fealt this apathetic about my team since the late 90's.

Ok 2 games in.

Plus your comment is based on financials. Have you read them?

cmonurz What grates with me Wimb, and despite thinking about it for a while today, I still can't quite put it into words properly - but it just feels like we have chosen to begin a new era. And that's not right.

A 'new era' happens naturally - a couple of senior players retire, a star player moves on, results worsen a little, and so on. But this feels like a decline that set in at the very top during the second half of last season that we have just let happen. Let us not forget we came 4th last time - contrary to many of the posts on this thread, I think that does give Reading fans a right to expect a promotion challenge this season.

We have taken a lot of transfer fees this summer, and yet we are not investing.

I don't know, it just feels, and has done for some time, like we aren't really trying. I know I'm losing enthusiasm for it for the 'fight', because it doesn't seem to me that the club is.

Why have we not replaced our strikers? What are our goals for this season? I can't get my head around it.

I think I can see where you're coming from URZ I think it stems back from the feeling that we should never have been relegated, then shouldn't have imploded last year. I think if we'd been god awful in the Premier League that second season, and struggled from the off last year, then it wouldn't be such a culture shock to be rebuilding.

I've said it in other threads but the team that we all think so fondly off wasn't built in a day, but it was built around 3 or 4 key players, Sidwell, Kitson, Little, Murty etc. I really do think we have a decent spine here with the likes of Fed, Mills, Pearce, Marek, Harper, Hunt. If you add a couple of big names plus the loan signings of the likes of Berty then suddenly we'll be picking up points.

I've always been in the 'be realistic we can't spend loads' camp but even I'm a bit dissapointed at the lack of investment this year. However, I'm waiting until the end of the window before passing judgement. As of today, BR still has nearly 2 weeks to draft in some players and he HAS been saying all along he wants 2 more in. I can't beleive for a second that BR believes that this exact group of players has what it takes, but it's what he has to work with.

We have a blank canvas at the moment with a bit of cash, promising youngsters and a few loyal vets. I honestly believe we'll be up there next year.

Anyways I shouldn't be optimistic :)

... and mass hysteria. Is this Berkshire or Basra?

Come on people, let's get some common sense back on here. 3 games in and the rosary beads are taking a beating. The transfer window is still open and there is another to come in January. Guess what? No-one has died and there is no major catastrophe afflicting the world. let's get some perspective on things.

Before the season started, many would have proposed Ipswich to do well. Guess what? They are below us. Will they stay there? Probably not. Has the world come to an end in Constable Country? I think not!

The same applies to our cosy corner of the world. In other words...

some watford fan rodgers and reading will be fine - remember we were booing him after a few games then we became the in form team after that.

think weve got enough worries of our own before wasting time on how they are getting on

All the perspective I need. Yet looking at those pics, I'd love one last cup game stood on the tilehurst end :( only ever stood on the South Bank a handfull of times, I was young back then and my Dad didn't want me in with the hooligans :D;)

Never stood on the town end either

Can I use this thread as a haven from anybody calling for Rodgers out, Mr Mad out, ££££ to be spent etc etc.

Watched the game at work today and it was probably our best league performance of the season considering the oppossition. We actually created a few chances and Mills took his goal well.

Soon as we get a new winger/forward and a new striker I think we'll be safe.

Hoping that BR picks a team against Barnsley in the cup that he wants to use for the league game.

I'm all for changing a losing side but 4 changes in a week seems a bit much, I still wonder what Marek and Harper have done so wrong unless they are not match fit.

Sigurdsson played well also, looked very good on the ball and delivered some great crosses.

Anyway at least we scored and have played 2 of the probable top 6 this season already.

Alternatively, you could say that we have failed to beat Swansea and Forest, who have only 1 win between them this season.

How d'you work that one out?

Bit of a guestimate on our current form but you know what i mean

Really? We have an average of 1 point at home, and 0.5 points away at the moment. So if our 'current' form continues we'd have at least 7 points, 8 if you round up the remaining .5

7 looks optimistic....
