Smith is too old surely for your side anyway?

Actually his worse spell of games in the past year or so were under Rodgers!

I was surprised you went for him and not a Priskin TBH.

TWRoyal I find it hard to believe everyone bar royalrother and 11th earl are taking this spin at face value. I don'T think these negotiations are over. I think russo is trying to embarass the deal out of us. Get the Reading fans on the club's back and watch all the clauses melt away. I couldn't comment on how they do business, he says after commenting about our business. They've got all this money but don't want to give hardup little watford any.we've had interest from big clubs not crappy litle Reading - oh yeah where are the offers? Why suddenly is mad the focus not Hammond? This smacks of a personal dislike between two egomaniac chairmen and the signing is bound to get sorted.

Read the very first sentence in my first post. It very clearly states that I am on neither side of the arguement. This is because I was not in any of the meetings and actually do not believe anything from either of the clubs.

And read the first of mine. It says you are not taking russo at face value. It does not say you have an opinion either way.

yeah, would have thought that under Coppell, but tbh we need some experience since half the first team are 20 years old.

I bet that Watford fans are loving all this. I can imagine the result from the Madejski was greeted with a cheer at Vicarage Road yesterday! As Reading supporters we are used to gleefully celebrating a former manager's downfall so the boot is on the other foot for us.

clauski As for other transfer targets - we have a week left: that's not enough time to make the right choices rather than panic buys, and we would pay over the odds due to the lateness of the deals and the lack of a 3 month negotiation period for Hammond. So I predict no signings and a statement to the effect we only want the players that are right for Reading and we have a young and talented group blah-de-blah

I'm sure Rodgers' isn't stupid enough to not make a shortlist of players he wants. (If he is, then surely Austin / Lamps Sr. would have said something, surely?)
I still expect 2 signings before the end of the window.

You are suggesting that I am taking the "spin at face value", therefore believing Russo. They are your words not mine. I actually say I am in neither camp.

Strange, I remember you telling us not so long ago that when Rodgers took over, he got both Smith and McAnuff in particular playing well above themselves.

2.8 lita injection
Sir Dodger Royal What you guys have to recognise is that the Mills deal is full of add ons. RFC in no way have paid £2million. Doncaster just happened to agree to the deal when we upped the amount for the first installment.

The Madman is never going to pay out big money and that is why he is taking the Royals in the wrong direction. He will certainly be looking to scam any potential buyer if they are mugs to pay.

I wonder what he is actually selling? Does it include the stadia, training ground, hotel complex etc I bet it is only the RFC franchise which frankly at present is pretty worthless.

Real facts.

Indeed, i fed up with the posts saying we spent £2m on a player, RFC paid £1.1m in instalments with add ons that wont happen, FACT.

Most clubs will do this, we're not an exception to the rule regardless of the fee spent.

I doubt this is any different to most transfer negotiations. Difference is that Russo has decided to go public with every little development.

winchester_royal Look elsewhere for the moment. Watford are taking the piss, and we shouldn't seem vulnerable to it.

Plenty of other decent strikers out there. I'm thinking Beckford or Simeon Jackson at the moment.

+1.

I swear I just read a comment from you saying we should move on from Smith and look at other targets. Isn't that exactly what we're alleged to have done? Where's the disgrace?

Well, from where I am sat it doesnt matter why the deal has been called off (or not) the fact that RFC have allowed this whole sorry affair to happen, and in the public eye, is a complete shambles.

RFC have had months to look at transfer targets and here we are a week from the window closing and we have been made to look like idiots - I am shocked and appalled but most of all embarrassed :oops:

I think one of three things will happen now;

1) RFC go back to Watford with an outrageous offer to save face at which point Tommy Smith will turn us down anyway to add salt to the wounds.
2) RFC forget Smith and make some knee jerk purchases and buy 2 or 3 players before the window shuts that are cheap and not up to the job.
3) RFC do nothing.

Whichever option they take, unless RFC has had a sound plan B (which I dont think they do) we are fvcked.

I seriously cannot believe the pantomime that is unfolding before our eyes, with Nicky Hammond appearing as Widow Twankey;

MADEJSKI - YOUR WALLET IS BEHIND YOU!!
Oh no it isnt!
Oh Yes it FVCKING IS!!!

Thanks RFC Board for making such a pigs ear of this - League one here we come. Such a shame that all the hard work over the past few years has been undone - They couldnt have fvcked it up more if they tried.

Rest in Peace Reading Football Club.
