Huntley & Palmer LOL @ most people on this thread when he signs in the next 48 hours

Not really. Old John knows the supports are turning volatile towards him, not the team, and not the manager. He really has very little choice but to show the fans their 'wrong' and get them back onside.

If it's true then I'll gladly eat my slice of humble pie. I just hope there's enough to go around.

14.07 Sky Sports sources understand Watford striker Tommy Smith is having a medical at Reading ahead of his proposed move to the Madejski Stadium.

Be funny if he failed the medical

Madejski has realised the fans were getting on his back for not investing so he has to do this to get some respect back but even though i think this signing will be great i still hope we are gonna sign someone else cos we need more than just one player from what i have seen so far this season.

LOL @ a few people on an internet message board turning 'volatile'. People are far too impatient after the most successful period in this club's history, it's farcical really

Yeah right - the decision was made on the basis of "fan power"? Just goes to show - don't believe what you read in the papers.

FWIW, I never doubted for a second that, once we'd offloaded Shunt, we'd be in with a £1.8 bid (matching the earlier blades bid) and it would then all be wrapped up. Lot of money for a 29 year old, but a quality signing, and exactly what we need.... he may even turn out in retrospect to be cheap at half the price.

Excellent news.

JM can't win can he.

Don't spend money, people on his back.

Spend money, well, he's just done it to get the fans back onside.

After all we've been through with this, it would be one of those laugh or cry moments.

Russo's comments smacked of someone trying to deflect any critiscm away from himself and on to "evil" RFC...seems to have worked as not many Watford fans don't seem to be on his side.

I also thought it was an unveiled attempt to punch us with one hand whilst simulataneously holding out his hand to take our cash with the other! It just smacked of him trying to talk up 11th hour alternative offers, hoping that Newcastle would come in and offer £2m plus etc, so he wouldn't have to sell Tommy Smith to RFC and try and save face with the Watford fans.

Jobi McAnuff next?!
