Ian Royal Oh Good Lord!

I have a 60+ page thread. And it was only started after a 20+ page thread descended into anarchy.

So has he actually signed? I've been away for a long weekend and I'm not reading 30 pages!

I'm not too clear on the matter as information is scarce, but there are rumours of him having a medical.

(At Reading.)

Medical complete and announcement expected tomorrow.

It wasn't failed, SSN would be all over that, and the Watford forums.

Depends entirely on who's doing the looking. Neutrals will see that we got our guy despite a lot of media noise from Watford.

For what it's worth and as someone who has had business dealings with Jimmy 'the Maff' Russo & his brother, (albeit many years ago) if this deal has gone through Hammond should be counting his figures after shaking on the deal. Jimmy is quite a colourful character and has been known to be very 'creative' in business deals, I doubt add ons are a new concept to him nor the phrase 'undisclosed fee'

He's a life long Chelsea fan too but he couldn't afford them.

I have no doubt that the unorthodox transfer dealings regarding Smith are largely down to the self styled Godfather of fruit & veg and although we are hardly looking like angels in this one, my humble opinion is that Mr Russo is not an easy person to do business with and come out the other end smelling of anything else other than fertilizer.

handbags_harris Nobody has said that we're attempting to cheat Watford out of anything, but to ignore the extenuating circumstances around this deal is to show a touch of naivety imo.
.

Yes your Watford mate did which is why I responded in the first place

My mate Watford Tom I think most Watford fans realised Smith wouldn't stay with us. He's in his last year of contract and we can't afford his wages - that's been clear for a while. Most fans also don't grudge Smith a move away from the team - he's been great for us - but from our perspective it does appear Rodgers and Hammond have tried everything they can to steal Smith on the cheap.

That's not saying we were trying to cheat Watford out of him, that's us being incredibly cheeky and stupid. That's not cheating. In fact, I'm not sure how you do "cheat" in a player transfer :|

No you can't. You can't "steal" them either but that hasn't stopped Watford fans as above taking that view. If they use words like "steal" then they're taking the view that somehow something underhand is happening.

In the end, we'll get the player, Watford will get their money (and Smith off the wage bill), Russo will have saved some face by maximising Smith's sale value and JM can temporarily stave off fans accusing him of not supporting the manager.

Cheeky perhaps but I still don't see how trying to get the best deal possible is "stupid". This time it didn't work for us (although I bet we'll never actually find out the full details of this transfer) but in the past it most certainly has.

Apparently Tommy Smith is having a medical and the vast majority of Reading fans are fighting shy of having a dope test for fear of failure!

Common sense prevails after all, now all we need is the creative midfielder and winger who can beat a defender and cross a ball !
