Deathy
Terminal Boardom I knew that I had seen a pic of Royalee and Wycombe Royal somewhere. There are so far up each others arses and creaming themselves about how shit SSC was and how brilliant BR is.

Well if I didn't already feel pig sick, I sure as hell do now. :|

Christ, it's only two guys kissing.

I'm really glad I've been away and missed all the cocks on here spouting off and trolling each other. Shit start. Plenty of time to turn it around and even more time to sack Rodger's and still stay up if it carries on like this into 10 - 15 games.

I just hope that the fans forum doesn't let Rodger's get away with just talking the talk. We've seen he can do that and sound impressive already. We've also seen how we've been doing so far. I'd like a little more substance.

If we fail to win and are adrift at the bottom after 15 games who knows what will happen, too scarey to even think about.

We are where we are, and we can all bitch about how it came to this but nothing will change what has happened.

For better or worse, we have put our faith in an inexperienced manager fielding a young and inexperienced team. Having made that decision, we might as well stick with it and see if it works. It may well take longer than 10-15 games for that to be clear so, painful as it may be, even if we are bottom, if the club believe they have got the right man then we should persevere.

I think we've all seen that there is enough promise in some of these players to be clear that it's not a total no hoper going forwards (unlike in previous downturns) but patience will be required and, in football, that is a rare commodity.

And, for Reading supporters, a near on impossibility judging by some of the posts of the last couple of weeks. I do agree with Rodgers - with the right acquisitions we can move forward. It's whether we have the budget and can attract those players that bothers me the most.

Personally I think Terry Bullivant should have been given at least another ten years.

The first time a taxi driver was given a chance in football and look what happened.

I think Brendan should bring Terry back as Director of Football and perhaps also Danny Baillie as defence coach.

Can't wait to meet you all on Thursday.

TB was just a poor manager, however he is a good coach, as has been shown by his involvement in football almost all the time since he left us.

Indeed. The change in playing style, personnel and indeed whole approach of the club needs to be given time. JM's waited 10 years to have a side which shows some indication of the investment in the Academy, he's not daft enough to chucki away in a matter of weeks. Equally anyone that thinks he's going to pay a hefty sum in compensation for a whole new management team, give them a month and then bump them out (also having to pay a hefty severance package) is seriously deluded.

Personally I said at the time that Rodgers needed to manage expectations a lot better when he was banging on about World class models, us being a premiership outfit and fanciful dreams of Europe. He's made something of a rod for his own back really but like a lot of the current squad he's still new to this.

Its a 3 year progression as far as I can see and if it takes a season or 2 of lower midtable Championship football whilst we rebuild (using the fruits of the Academy's labour) then I'm more than happy with that. We can always be hopeful for more but anyone expecting anything more than that was seriously underestimating what rebuilding a team with our approach takes.

Thats the key about having the squad significantly supplemented by Academy products. rather than buying in squad players from elsewhere to supplement numbers we now have a nucleus of our own which we've already invested in. This should mean that theres a little more in the kitty freed up to make signings that will (in theory at least) make a more immediate impact on the first team. The signings of Mills and Smith would indicate that there may be less transfer activity in terms of numbers but a little more in terms of initial outlay.

A tight wage structure will always be an issue for us but we're not alone in this division on that score to be fair.

Where did I say I wanted to sack him? I said there was plenty of time to sack him and turn it around if necessary. If we've scored 4 goals after 15 games and got 8 draws and 7 losses with 8 points and a goal difference of -18 then a sacking may well be required.

Try engaging your brain before responding.

'Impressive' was used in sarcasm towards Rodgers, not that you probably understand it.

So, firstly, you now realise that what you stated was factually incorrect and secondly, you think a bit of sarcasm is "slagging Rodgers off" - as long as I understand this, I'll understand some of your more strange replies in future. Thank you.

I don't know why I bother.

So quality over quantity then?

Good points form Shards and Vision there. Remember Alex Ferguson was one game away from being sacked at Man United and then look what he has achieved. We are not expecting that kind of miracle but i think we should stick with him til atleast December... but whoever comes in is going to have the same problem of pretty much a tight budget and work with the players we have now.

The problem is we need to balance giving him time, with not being relegated. Frankly if we haven't won by game 15, then it'll look like a near certain relegation under Rodgers. Which simply isn't acceptable given the improvements at the club over the last 10 years.

In that case, we'd need to very seriously look at who else is available and consider getting shot of him fairly sharpish.

I don't think things will be that bad. But I'm starting to feel pretty disillusioned with Rodgers. He's mouthed off, let loads of experienced players go (rightly in almost every case IMO) but he hasn't bought in much in the way of experience to replace them and the few experienced players he does have he isn't playing. Possibly for availability reasons.

He promised World Class Models and promotion attempts. He promised good quality attacking passing football.

Frankly he has failed to deliver on a single promise so far, after building expectations very high.
