FiNeRaIn I take it you haven't seen the watford forum then? First we steal their manager and then make out of place comments about one of their strikers.

We stole Brighton's manager as well nearly 6 years ago. Didn't affect our reputation then.

Very different circumstances. Very different

Stooper
Ups and Downs Are we still allowed to boo Tommy Smith the next time we play against Pompey? I know he was never actually a Reading player but the deal seemed so close that I still think he should count as a jumping ship Judas.

Like Stephen Hunt & Bradford then?

Purely tongue in cheek, my good man. Booooooo!

How can requesting to speak to a manager, permission being granted, and compensation being agreed - stealing a manager?

I'm clinging to the hope that Smith's Pompey carrerr can go 2 ways. He will either be part of a club on the fall or part of a club that will get a new owner, new manager and a load of new players. Smith could find himself out of the picture.

At Reading he knows he will be a massive part of a club on the up.

I know, I know......

Because of the manner in which we went about it.

To be fair, two things have conspired against us. Firstly, We tempt BR away from Watford. Secondly, BR opens his gob and is incredibly naive to openly covet Tommy Smith. End of. Move on.

Ask the watford fans who hate BR as equally as us.

Exactly, so how did we steal Rodgers then?

What manner? We never spoke to him until we had agreed compensation.

Some people on here are really losing sight of reality.

Hope...always a good thing to have, but never really good if it's all you have.

Haven't felt this way since February 2008. I hoped we wouldn't go down, but logic said we would...

What are you on about? I'm saying the opposite you fool. You can't steal a manager when you ask to speak to a manager, permission is granted, and compensation being agreed.

Perhaps he had word from Portsmouth days or weeks ago that he was a definate target of theirs.

If he knew that a Prem Club was interested, well he may have bided his time, and you can't blame him for that.
Happens all the time in transfer shenanigans.

Look, stealing is the wrong word, thats my mistake.

However, we disrupted a manager who had been at a club for 6 months or so. Br supposedly had a strop after we were knocked back originally, which obviously disrupted things..we then went in again and with an already unhappy manager they sold him to us. BR's fault as much as ours but really we were hardly a pleasure to do business with.
Secondly when he came he made very, very inappropriate comments about smith, frankly embarrassing. Its fitting he's turned us down. If we had stopped bidding like it was championship manager ( a phrase a lot of you on here like to use) he'd be a reading player. LOL@ going back and forth with addons and measly 200k increases, etc
