yappy Warnock set to join Villa. Goodbye Shorey?

Yup!

Stoke with two great bits of buiness today. That's how to buy in your second season! Credit where it's due.

If Stoke are paying anything like the combined £100k pw wages for Tuncay and Huth that 'Boro were, they are a another club heading for disaster.

Just a gamble though isn't it? Stay up again with the help of these two and the wages won't be a problem.

But, go down and.......you need to get rid quickly or stare in to the abyss Leeds United stylee!

I think that is the kind of risk quite a few RFC fans would have liked to have seen us take, but personally I am happy with our way although it ended in tears at least we will not be paying for it for the next 5-10 years.

Truth is it is a gamble because realistically Sotke are one of at least 10 fairly even sides who could go down this season and a lot will depend on luck and avoiding injuries to not be one of the three.

They were talking about Warnock as the replacement for Barry on 5Llive this morning. I know he's played in both positions for Blackburn, but I thought he was very much a left-back first...

Barry played centre-mid under O'Neill, as part of a midfield 3 with Petrov and one other.

Isn't Robben a left wing while Ribery is a right wing?

Technically yes, but Ribery is being tested in a more central 'playmaker' role this season, Robben has been bought in to get the width.

Murked.

Also, LOL @ Abramovich being fully being plans to introduce a salary cap because he can't compete with Man City or Real Madrid any more.

In Peter Coates they've got the best Chairman in football. Local guy, loves the club, been involved with it for 30 plus years, used to be on the FA board too. Owns BET 365, which I think had the largets turnover of any privately owned company in the UK last year. So the moneys not gonna dry up soon.

By no means a model for most clubs to be able to follow, but an interesting story that I don't think many have picked up on. Their problems is attracting players to the club, no matter what they pay.

With £12m transfer fees and anything close to that level of wages they'll be very hard-pushed to make a profit whether they stay up or not.

Funnily enough, according to Soccerbase he made 30+18 league appearance too.

Snigger.

Still, those 9 goals certainly helped propel Chelsea to the title in the three seasons he received his wages.

Oh.

There aren't many Premier League strikers with a worse scoring record than Craig Bellamy over the last couple of seasons.
