Bumper book of tactics:

“To be a sustainable club in the English Premier League;”
“playing attractive and attacking football”
and
“with the highest number of young, gifted players from the academy base”

“the team philosophy is as important as the team”;
“the idea of “Team” is more important than the player as an individual”
and
“The players must feel the need to defend the club’s history and culture.”

They're playing like they've at least taken that one to heart.

Whys that then? You obviously dont think we will win promotion..is that it? We will just have to wait and see wont we.

No, I don't think we will. But I don't actually know so I won't be starting a thread stating that we won't as a fact.

No but you start one saying we will end up being mid-table and dull and uninspiring.
I suspect we will still win promotion and score more than 80 league goals. So dull and uninspiring I dont think so.

In terms of predictions:

Ian Royal So we were dull, uninspiring and midtable last season then?

Don't think so.

We were dull

We were uninspiring

We did not finish mid table in this particular season

We didn't get promoted

We did flog off our best players and either not replace them or replace them on the cheap

It is hard to see progress for the forseeable future with a chairman who wants to sell

We will have to get used to midtable championship football at best

We were right not expand

Dull? - In a few games
Uninspiring? - For a small but significant part of the season, yes
Mid-table? Not even close.

But hardly dull and uninspiring all season, or even a majority of the season. And certainly not mid-table.

My prediction: about 4th in a long hard slog. IR's prediction > Schards' Prediction

The performances throughout second half of the season could be adequately described as dull and uninspiring.

The points tally acquired in the last 23 games (W 7 D 10 L 6) was 31 - a total that if doubled would have seen us finish 10th. Or midtable.

I wouldn't call February to May small.

We only lost 3 games in March, April & May (not including play offs). I'd call the uninspiring bit February - mid April personally. In a season that runs August - May, That's 2 and a half months of 9 and a half months. Just over a quarter of the season.

My main bone of contention being Schards passing himself off as some sort of prophet when he got it much less than half right.

Especially in comparison to all those predicting a hard season with a play off position, at about the same time Schards was calling for a sea-change at the club.
