FOOTBALLER Kevin Harper yesterday admitted punching and kicking his wife and spitting at her.

The Dunfermline Athletic striker attacked Linda Harper at Green Oakhill Road, Glasgow, on September 13.

At the city's sheriff court yesterday, Harper, 32, of Barloch Street, Possil, Glasgow, admitted assaulting Ms Harper by punching her on the body, kicking her and spitting at her to her injury.

The former Hibs star's not guilty plea to a breach of the peace charge was accepted.

Sentence was deferred for 12 months for Harper to be of good behaviour.

Last night, Harper refused to discuss the circumstances that led to the assault on his wife.

He said: "There is a background to this which is quite different to the basic details heard in court.

"I am not willing to say anything about what happened as my priority is with my kids."

Harper is living with his mother in Possil.

...apart from the players don't really look much like they should (and they never really have on the Fifa games for Reading)...
