Mirror

Hull boss Phil Brown is ready to offer Reading defender Liam Rosenior a route back into the Premier League.

The Tigers are willing to pay £1.5million for the former Fulham right-back, 25.

Brown has already agreed a deal for Sunderland’s Paul McShane and wants to add Rosenior to his defensive options.

Hull have already signed winger Stephen Hunt from the Royals and are now ready to test Reading’s resolve to hang onto another of their former top-flight stars.

Deathy I thought when he came here, after impressing at Fulham, that we had a bright up and coming right back. A former England U21 talking about breaking into the full national squad. Instead, we get someone who talks a good game but is utterly terrible at playing it.
He's forever being caught out of position, he gives the ball away so so often as well, and he's forever shrugging his shoulders. I don't know if Kelly is fully fit, or even up to it yet, but Liam Rosenior is awful and is huge weakness is a young and new defence.

deathy, a week ago you said we were defending really well

1 game later you wanted to drop a defender, we have done exactly that and lost at home to the team currently bottom of the league

what is your next moment of inspiration?

I didn't think we defended too badly that day, but Rosenior, as I have reiterated again and again hasn't played consistantly well for us since he's been here! His distribution is dissapointing, he gives the ball away too often, he lays blame elsewhere before he'll look at himself and he's seen shrugging his shoulders almost weekly. Going forward he can be a valuable player, but in defence he is awful. IF we had someone who could take his place, I'd drop him.

JM will not have valuable players lounging about not playing, it is bad business not to use your most valuable assets.

Yes but we haven't you tool - so why start a thread saying 'Drop Rosenior'. On current showing, 'Drop team' would be an equally good thread title. Or 'Drop Manager' or 'Drop Chairman'. How about 'Drop Deathy/Jay'?

Because at the time of starting the thread, Bertrand could have slipped to right back and Armstrong to left back, you 'tool'.

No he could not have, Armstrong was never fit enough to play, hence why he had to have the op.

I'm with HSSC there, but didn't Armstrong play against Burton at the time of the thread starting, and we weren't aware of his impending operation? Anyway, the fact remains we just can't drop Rosenior right now, let alone sell him to Hull.

I'd like him to stay actually. I like him.

I also didn't see why we didn't sign Harding. Free and must be cheap wages too considering he went to Saints.

Haven't you said elsewhere that Bertrand is even worse at defending than Rosenior - or was it someone else? Anyway, would be a great mood playing a left-back at right-back ... glad BR is in charge and not you, lol.

Even if Armstrong was fit and available why would Bertrand be able to play right back?

Because Rodgers knew Bertrand was available and, as a pretty good attacking fullback, fits his plans better than Harding.

Harding probably wanted to be pretty certain of playing week in week out as well, and although he did ok last season, he's another player with a poor injury record and pretty average at best.

Given the title of this thread, did it warm the cockles of anybody else's heart, yesterday, when Rosey said that he wants to play in the prem? With RFC. I know this is a bit tongue in cheek but surely any concerns about his general play are made up for by his allegiance to the cause.

And it seems, once the team had woken up after the first 25 mins, that he had a fairly decent game against the pit lads.

No, he's my least favourite of all our players. I don't like him, and I don't rate him. But he is by far the best right back we have at the moment, so unfortunately he has to play.
