Starfish ...away to 3rd division Dynamo Dresden...

What the hell has happened to them over the last 10-15 years? When I lived in Germany in 93/94 they were in the Bundesliga!

They got relegated the year after, and had dropped to the 4th tier by 2000.

Decent support but no money, I'd guess. Attracting players to Dresden might have been a problem too.

Things could change now though as they've almost finished rebuilding their stadium into a 32500 capacity ground, and as is the way with all new grounds in Germany, it has a big terrace at one end.

Handy away win for Feyenoord at Almelo this afternoon, Jan-Dahl Tomasson notching.

Previously winless PSV stick four past Ajax.

Feyenoord joint top with Enschede.

Looks like being wide open this year, but I still fancy FC Twente Enschede to win the title.

All is not well in the land of the sausage as Bayern Munich fans send a letter signed by thousands to much of the media complaining about the clubs transfer policy.

Less glamorously, Bohemians Praha 1905 are 3rd from bottom of the Czech league, with just 3 draws from 4 games. The only bright spot is that the fake Bohemians Praha are last.

Only six weeks until the Bohemians Praha v Bohemians Praha "derby".

Can I just point out again that European football this season is all about Yoann Gourcuff.

Been following his progress for a couple of years after being tipped off by some French football fans, following the comedy transfer shinnanigans by AC Milan the boy is on fire again.

A transfer target for Inter apparently. Should go down well if this happens before next weekend!

1.FCN not enjoying their season so far. 1 point from 3 games. Thank doG Bayern are not exactly on fire though. Worst start in 43 years - the Bundesliga looks wide open again this year.

A very good day for Juve's new signings.

Yesterday was a very good day for Bayern's - Robben is being praised to the heavens in Germany today.

Anderlecht's Marcin Wasylewski might miss a game or tow after this 'tackle' from Alex Witsel of Standard Liege

Metz decidely average start to French Div 2, mirroring RFC, as usual. Away draw at bottom club Nimes blamed on " heat, state of the pitch" etc.

Fairies.

Diego is an exceptional player, have thought for some time that a good attacking midfielder will put them back amongst the frontrunners of Europe. Fully expect them to push Inter hard this season, almost tempted to but a bit of money on them winning Serie A

Early contender for goal of the season from Malaga

http://www.marca.com/2009/08/30/futbol/equipos/malaga/1251666745.html

I have been told that Malaga are a team to look out for this season, signed sh*t loads of players all for little money and tipped to do very well.

Didn't they have an epic winning run in the latter half of last season?

I'm not sure that they can get a top four spot but they will, I am certain, make a lot of teams look stupid this season.

And Nantes suggesting that are likely to go up again (shame that they aren't good enough for la premiere ligue)

Bayern seem to have turned it around here in Germany. 5-1 away winners in Dortmund yesterday - quite a result, even if Dortmund are looking far from impressive so far. Hamburg and Leverkusen 5 points ahead of them at the top but of much more importance to me was 1.FCN picking up their first win of the season to move clear of the relegation zone (for now) - stadium sold out too - the atmosphere was almost religious, again.

Feyenoord sit 2nd in the Eredivisie after a 3-2 win at Willem II, Jon Dahl Tomasson with 2, Jonathan de Guzman the other scorer to put Feyenoord 2-0 up. Having been out for the vast majority of last season, de Guzman is making everybody sit up and take notice this season with some excellent displays. He will surely be one of the next in a long line of Dutch players to secure a big money move to one of the major leagues in Europe.

For the record, PSV sit top, with FC Twente 3rd, all on 14 points. Goals scored separate the top two, goal difference 2nd from 3rd. Ajax sit 4th waiting to pounce on any slip-ups a point behind, with AZ Alkmaar 5th a further point behind. The 6th round of results:

FC Twente 3-2 Utrecht
ADO Den Haag 2-1 AZ Alkmaar
PSV 3-0 Roda JC
Heerenveen 0-1 Groningen
Sparta 1-0 RKC Waalwijk
VVV Venlo 1-0 Heracles
Ajax 6-0 NAC Breda
Willem II 2-3 Feyenoord 8) 8) 8)
Vitesse Arnhem 2-2 NEC Nijmegen
