Howard will be a good signing if it goes through and if it's an end of season deal, even better IMO

Please define how a player is defined as senior, are you just talking about age?

Rosenior has over 60 apps for us in 2 years (
Kebe over 40 in little over a season and a half
Hunt has also got over 40 games for us and a wealth of experience.
Then there is Gunnarsson who you forfog which is fair enough

I don't think anyone bar yourself are calling Karacan and Federici senior.

And on the flip-side, Rasiak is now one of our senior pros, despite only one sub's appearance. "Senior" is surely about experience not age; Rosenior has been playing senior football for seven years.

Is "not approaching or over 30" really not clear enough for you?

If you look up a few posts you will not that Ian was the one who mentioned Federici and Karacan.

IMAMATEOFJOVSKY For me I think we need a central midfielder and it appears its down to either one of the Brians - Stock or Howard - would prefer Stock but we'd probably need to ship both Marek and Harper out for that to happen and I cant see both going - not even sure one will go....so Howard is most likely

According to a poster on the BBC site - "The deadline for most European countries passed yesterday and so they can no longer bring players in. However, the deadline was extended for the UK due to the Bank Holiday. As a result, UK clubs are allowed to bring players IN from abroad, but no players from the UK will be going OUT to European clubs."

If true that means Marek is not going to Sparta Prague (?) as was being rumoured. That's good news in my book!!

Back on planet earth, Rasiak is a far more senior player than Rosy in every respect and is a prime example of BR signing his own old pros whilst discarding Coppell's.

I'm not calling them senior, I'm just comparing their League appearances under Coppell to Matejovsky, which shows they are pretty much as part of the Coppell old guard, as Marek is.

Matejovsky - 21(15)
Pearce - 18(3)
Karacan - 20(0)

I know Pearce and Karacan have played this season in the league and Marek hasn't, but then Marek played in the Prem and they didn't, which counterbalances that. Not really many starts in it is there.

Of course I don't expect Woodcote to change his view. It is afterall set in stone. Fossilised you might say, just like his brain.

Howard's seem done, maybe dependent on Sheff U getting someone in if the Harper switch is off.

Be very surprised not to see a right back arrive, maybe just as cover for Rosey.

Not a bad window at all.

Hogmeister Royal it's great that for once Reading got in with the first announcement of a confirmed signing on transfer deadline day

Certainly one of the busiest transfer windows for some time.

Though that isn't saying much :D

I wonder if that extends to loans?

I don't need to change my view.

Of All Coppell's former squad who are 28 or over (senior players in most peoples eyes) only Gunnarsson has started a league match (and that was only the last one) whilst the rest have been either sold or, sidelined whilst Ivar is injured.

I know this may be a bit deep for you but nevermind, eh?

Im hoping they've got the wrong Brian here !! Stock would be a far more progressive move for the club than Howard...problem is Stock would cost and Howard looks like he's being almost given away...says it all really

Just guess work. So much chat about it now and details emerging about the deal in the Sheffield Press, there must be at least a 80% chance of it going through....

Has anyone made sure RFC know the deadline is 5pm and not midnight?

Just checking after the mess they made of the Smith (almost) signing.

Shame - dont think Howard is any better than what we have - he can't even crack a first team place in the Sheff U team

Yes they know that - the problem will be though that they've forgotton about international clearance being needed for O'Dea...
