Ideal That thread lives on for the future, and I'll be happy to revisit it no matter what happens.
If Rodgers takes us on a 20-match unbeaten run then I'll happily send him a congratulatory postcard.
If he instead goes on to fail miserably and takes us on a relegation-crusade, then I'll be pleased to revive that thread.

I just want to see us play well and WIN. At the moment I am uncertain if that is going to happen very often, but after we finally won a match I'll wait and see for a while until we get more of an indication of what the future brings.
We could potentially go on a 8-9 game losing streak. Then where would we be?

That thread/poll was biased towards your opinion, so it is therefore rendered invaLOLid.

Is anyone really surprised that as supporters, we are the last to know wtf is going on? If the club treats long serving employees badly (James Harper springs to mind), why would anyone expect the club to treat us with anything but contempt?

Schards#2 OUT

Hahnemann
Murty
Lita
S Hunt (2.5m)
Doyle (6.5m)
Bikey (3.0m)
Harper
Duberry

IN

Mills (2.0m)
Howard
O'Dea (loan)
Rasziak (500k?)
McAnuff (500k?)

A net £9,000,000 in plus about £5,000,000 off of the wage bill, All together now.........

"this demonstrates our commitment to getting back into the Premiership"

I could go through your list of "outs" but we know that the three that went for money were always likely to leave after last season's failure to go back up. Of the other five players mentioned, Lita was always going to let his contract run down and grab the increased wages on offer elsewhere.

That leaves Hahnemann, Murty, Harper and Duberry. Of these, personally only Harper you could say is a surprise to be surplus to requirements under a preferred passing game. Three are club legends for their part in the most successful era of the club and I will always be thankful to them for the part they played but all good things must come to an end.

Not many managers can completely re-build a successful side at the same club. Fergie is a master of it, Wenger has achieved it, but I think Sir Steve realised the task awaiting him knowing his team of last season will need to be completely re-built and in my opinion was capable of doing it but decided he didn't want the hassle and pressure that would go with it. Maybe he also wisely realised that the fans level of expectations at RFC would now be so high after the last five years of success that he would not get the time and patience he was afforded by (most of) the fans first time around..............

Brendan Rodgers has decided he is up to the challenge and I think we need to give him the time and space and I am certain he will get it right. Right now we need to support him and our club.

Of course we'll win some of them. You're basing your opinions on hearsay having not seen us play live this season so to voice your opinion so strongly with the threads you've started does indeed make you a moron I'm afraid.

Perhaps the club has been busy tying up such deals and making sure all the paperwork is complete - I'd rather they did that then appeased me for a couple of hours if I'm perfectly honest. Also, James Harper's done very well out of us quite frankly given he hasn't shown up for the last 2 years.

Ony equally as moronic as trotting out the tired line 'our academy players are like new signings in themselves' when they are unproven and as it stands not a patch on the players they have 'replaced'.

And can someone clarify, as there is nothing on the official site I can see - are we talking about Brian Howard?

I'd have been pretty excited about signing him a year ago, was he really that bad at Bramall Lane last season?

Still, I'd rather keep Harper, and this apparent loan to Sheffield United makes no sense at all.

Finally, what happens to Marek? No sale, but he can't get in the league side because Coppell signed him. 6 months rotting in the reserves on one of our highest salaries?

+1 couldn't agree more.

-1 couldn't disagree more.

If the best bunch of young players in the clubs' history realise their full potential, they could form the backbone of our next Premiership squad for years to come.

This is something we could never hope to finance through the transfer market without the stadium expansion that had to be cancelled thanks to our abject under Coppell in the last 2 seasons.............................not that anyone should expect 2 of the clubs most blinkered supporters to grasp this concept.

As with any new signing, time will tell. Why lose Harps and keep Marek? At least we know that Harps can deliver. I wouldn't trust MM to deliver a pizza!

Either/or, Harper or Marek >>>>>> our other midfield options.

I'm just completely baffled and disheartened by all this. We have chosen not to go for promotion. It's bizarre, and it makes me miserable.

CMRoyal Harper interview 37 minutes in:-

Gutted to hear, but good luck to the fellah. He'll be back in the Premier League next season.

Interesting interview. Clear now that Brenda doesn't rate him.

Thanks Harps, and good luck.

In my opinion. The two players who can put their foot on the ball and pass it, effectively.

I echo those sentiments.

The transfer of players to the Prem were understandable. But literally giving away our longest serving player to our divisional rivals does not make one iota of sense to me. Gross error of judgement by Reading FC.

Yep agreed. Especially harper. The club are not after promotion in the least, it seems like a witch hunt from madejski to get rid of anyone on any sort of wage. This apparently includes treating your longest serving player and model pro like CRAP to save some pennies. Good enough for wolves and sheff united, but apparently not good enough for us

But Harper has been sh*t ever since Sidwell left. Great enthusiasm, but no loss.
