John Peel
LoyalRoyal22 Harper a legend. I dont understand why he been loaned out? how does this benefit us? we were close to getting 2 million for him a week ago... Now all we get is him off the wage bill...

Yeah right, am I missing something? Surely he's just going to leave for nothing once the loan ends??! How is that going to benefit us? Unless it's like the complicated Kitson loan last year where Utd pays us x amount if they're promoted?

Two ways in which it will benefit us:

1) We won't be paying his inflated wages for the rest of the season.

2) He won't be fcking up our midfield.

londinium rock, scissors, stone with Nicky Shorey was it.. some one enlighten me as to what match it was as i wouldnt mind seing that again

I *think* it was when we beat Ipswich 2-0 in 05/06. He got Convey and Shorey to roshambo-off over who took the freekick.

A sad day

Will always remember Harps fondly - great character and despite what many on here say one of our best players in recent times. Most away fans I spoke to rated him highly even during the last two seasons
Him and Sid were a great combination and the key to our 106 and first Premier season successes
Will not remember him for his goals, but for his all round play, his interviews, his dedication (how many games missed due to injury?) and his utter dejection at the end of the Wolves play off game

Good luck Harps

TY for your time at RFC , a solid player, who did not allow the game to be too important, may or may not be missed, but I hope he does well at Sheff U and we do well without him.

My crew is not so solid now, back to 17 bus I guess.

I wish James Harper every success for the future and I'm saddened to see the man himself leave after 8 long years at the club.

Whilst at his best, there's no doubting he did a good for us in his crab-like role at the heart of our midfield. However, I believe he's a much better player than this.

My memories of James will always revert back to such champagne moments as when he rounded the Liverpool keeper with aplomb to seal the best result in our history.

I also remember the commentators remarks following that superb goal.

" You see, at this level there's quality in every team"

My abiding memory from the 2006-7 DVD is the number of chances missed by Steve Sidwell yet, on the rare occasions when Harper got into similar positions, his conversion rate was far superior.

Technically, Harper is superior to Sidwell yet even against the mighty Barnsley's cup side, Harps looked a very ordinary player.

It's no good, James, sitting in that bubble where you've been for some time now, happy in the knowledge that it's just the fans who don't see what a good job you do.

If you want to return to the Premiership and justify an appropriate wage, Sheff U will be looking for you to produce the quality you showed that day against Liverpool on a regular basis..................midfield water carriers are two a penny.

I genuinely hope James Harper finally shows the world what a quality player he is but it wasn't going to happen at RFC.

Good luck, Harps.

Everything that I thought, but didn't have the intellect or patience to put down....

Oh, and thanks James for being so obviously delighted to be a professional footballer. (Cue Scarface/Royalee etc. for some snide comment)

I remember his debut and the step overs that Pards didn't appreciate. A great servant to the Royals and will be missed.

Technically, Sidwell is playing in the Premier League and Harper in the Championship. You've really got to let this one go, mate.

Only those with a limited understanding of the game would fail to understand that it's not just technical ability that dictates the level at which a player can perform.

PS. What you really need is to apply a little more thought before bothering your long suffering keyboard.

Indeed. Sidwell clearly has a better football brain as well.

Woodcote knows best of course! Time and time again you told Steve Coppell - twenty years in football management - where he was going wrong and he failed to listen, even when you sulked about it and sat in your car until your advice was taken. Still rate Andy Hughes at right back and Dean Morgan, you absolute joker?

I always thought that Woodcote was in South Oxfordshire. Now I realise it must be twinned with Narnia or perhaps at the top of the Magic Faraway tree.

I praised Steve Coppell to the hilt in his glory days and prayed for his departure throughout 2009...........................I remain delighted with his replacement and relieved that he's no longer here.

As I've said countless times in the past, Hughes did a good job a left back, especially for a right footed player.

I also note that we now have at least 3 players who play in this position under "yes man Rodgers" whereas both Coppell and Pardew could never extract such luxuries from our supposedly tight fisted chairman.

Your attention span is starting to impress me, Floyd, keep it up!!! You might learn something.

With a new pair of legs he probaby would be........................I wish we'd had him 10 years ago.

The only senior player to not only get a new contract this summer but also a league start under BR.

Would Rodgers, the way he's done business wiht the senior players have offered Bryn something?

Somehow i doubt it. Certainly won't be here next season.
