Great player for Reading. Probably time for him to move on. But he was a big part of the most successful years the club has had. And was not a passenger in that achievement. I for one will always welcome him back to the ground, whoeve he comes with.

Harps is a Reading legend and in the world of the snarling, selfish modern footballer he is a breath of fresh air. Certainly my favourite player at the club and very sad he has gone.

Good player. Not sure he ever found his right position really - always felt we never got the best out of him - but scored some terrific goals eg forest, palace, liverpool. He'll be missed a lot

Harps was a very good player and great character, from the things you hear about him e.g. first into training he is a credit to his profession.

I don't think I've ever seen a player who hugs the referee, squirts the contents of a water bottle into the face of one of his coaches and congratulates his opponents for making a good pass and I don't think I ever will again.

People may not have appreciated him properly but as one of the 05/06 players he'll always be a Reading legend.

but when he was good he was very good indeed
but it was his approachablity, big eyebrows, and sheer comedy gayness that made him my favourite player of the last 8 years

im gutted, but accept it was probably the right time for both

I agree with what you say BW but I am not very happy at the way the club has handled this. Harps has been a great player for us in the past and the fact that (like others) he has had a couple of medicre seasons should not overshadow the good times. I hope he is successful at the Blades and wish him the best.

Thanks for some good memories - goals against Palace and Liverpool stand out - amongst 8 years spent predominantly passing the ball back to our centre-halves.

Harper going is truly the end of an era as far as I'm concerned. The last link to the Tier 3 days. With just a bridge of two players up until now you can get all the way back to the first days of my real support for the club using Harper.

Very sad about this. We have to move on sometime but I thought he had plenty left to offer us and the youngsters.

How many players are in your new "bridge" Ian and who are they? I am the adjudicator and seperate spells at the club don`t count.

I'm wondering if yourself and Woodcote could just FCUK OFF and create your own Harper bashing thread where you can both wank each other off.

I simply cannot understand the need for the complete toss you both write on a daily basis seeping into a thread discussing the appreciation of a great player who no longer plays for the club.

I will miss:

- arm waving
- reading about his antics
- seeing/hearing his funny interviews
- his good sportsmanship

A shame his going is not to the EPL but to a hated opponent. It will be strange to see him lined-up opposite of Reading.

Not a bad track record for someone who did not fit in with the new management team following Coppells departure.
