How long has Long got?

by Gordons Cumming » 03 Sep 2009 10:19

Shane came over with Kevin Doyle as a sort of room mate and has always been a sort of bit part, impact player over the following years.

At the beginning of last season SC said this was the time for Shane to start to establish himself in the team.
Has he made the step up and do you think he has much of a future under the Rodgers regime?

I know we've had long,Long threads before but I think now is the time for Shane to really show what he can do or I think he'll be out of the door sooner rather than later.

A really nice guy, but can he cut it at this new look Reading?

I'd ask Snowball if I were you.

Not very long in my view, as said he is an impact player.
I think N Hunt and Rasiak will be our front line-up in time.

Long has had long enough to establish himself but for a long time I've thought Long just isn't good enough. The long and short of it is that Long's time was up a long time ago.

I'm wondering if this will be a long Long thread or a short Long thread as for quite a long time we've been discussing Long's status and his rise to 1st choice has been a long time coming, so maybe as we've had a long time to think about it, and it's time for this Long discussion to come to it's long awaited end.

Long enough ... or not long, but how long is long enough? As long as a piece of string I suppose.

I'll get my coat .....

I heard from Snowball that Long would score around 20 goals this season now he had the number 9 shirt

that going to be 1 every 2 games now

Until the end of this season. Rodgers' will give him his fair share of chances, and if he doesn't grab the opportunity, I see him being shipped out to another Championship club who need him.

Nice lad, awful footballer. Wont last long under Rodgers. Once again he becomes third choice, possibly even 4th choice.

Tend to agree with most on here, irrespective of who we bring in Long still apears to be the "impact" player from the bench.

I also think that Henry and Church might fall into the same catagory.

...and eventually that club will send him out to L1 where he probably belongs

Why not quote ALL I said? I said he'd score 20 or thereabouts if he was a regular STARTER

I have also said he WOULDN'T be likely to start in a 4-5-1 or 4-3-3 and seems to be suited to 4-2-2

I also said that in a 4-5-1/4-3-3 it would be probable that Henry and Church would be ahead of him in the pecking order
