Isn't it funny how people seem to change? He never showed any of the disciplinary issues when he was at Chelsea or on loan with us.

Remembered for his 20 yard curler against Gillingham, and his two goals to knock Bristol Rovers out of the Auto Windscreens Shield (or whatever it was then), one of which was a 35 yard looping volley.

You're as bad as Spacey.

Wikipedia "joined Reading on loan in December 1999 with a view to a permanent move." It's pretty much 10 years...

Blimey, I don't really remember him at all!

Oh hang on, that was my first year at uni. Which might explain a lot.

Didn't he score the first UK professional league goal of the new millenium? Away at Bournemouth I think...

He was a tidy player but you have to remember we had a shocker of a team then so anything half decent ended up looking like Pele (skill wise).

Sad really. I remember him as a youngster for Chelsea. He scored a couple of decent goals for Chelsea in the Premiership what on earth can make him turn so bad he can't even get in a Conference South team.

that honour went to Darren Freeman at Brighton, Nicholls might have scored a pen at Gillingham the same afternoon, meaning the first penalty of the millenium

Nicholls scored the first equaliser, a 20 yard curler. Martin Williams scored the first penalty of the millenium 3 minutes later.

I work with Mark’s Dad. I’m surprised to hear about his discipline problems as when I’ve met him he’s been a really nice lad. He is currently player coach at Bedfont with Neil Shipperley as manager. Mark’s a swimming instructor and lifeguard at a leisure centre near Uxbridge. He is due to begin doing his coaching badges soon. His Dad told me he was proved innocent of the spitting incident but did lose his rag last year after being sent off last year, entered the ref’s changing room and soaked the official’s suits with water!
His goal at Gillingham was the first of the Millennium to be broadcasted live on radio.

Why did he end up so crap when he had so much potential?
