Archie's penalty As to the Bolton game wasn't it on Good Friday? It was definitely at Easter as I had come back from visiting my mum in the States and I had terrible jetlag - but also great excitement as we won - the crowd was over 14,000.
And as to the tape - hmm we need to find someone to do that. I think I have the video as well but no player.
Oh and am back up in Manc from Wednesday - if you fancy meeting up for a pint soon let me know...

handbags_harris I actually had a list of about 15 different pandemonium moments, but most would be mentioned, others dismissed. But this one rarely, if ever, gets a mention at all, yet it was the cue for intense, possibly slightly emotional, celebrations amongst all who were there:
Archie Lovell's penalty against Luton Town in September 95.
For those that are probably thinking "huh???", this was the first penalty we were awarded after the 95 playoff final. Archie showed balls of steel to take it the way he did.
FWIW, the date of the Bolton league match was 21st April (3 days before my birthday). The attendance was 13,223.

I wish I did my friend, I honestly wish I did. I think the best ever birthday present i could ever receive would be a dvd from Meridian TV with all their highlights of RFC matches, even if it was just short news articles with the goals shown.

Man Friday Playoff semi against Wigan. The Stadium has never experienced such electric atmosphere from when we got to 1-1 until the end of the match.

Superb! That was pretty special. A friday night - two in-form teams going flat out against each other. Really great game and a fantastic feeling when the winner went in.

My tape was almost knackered so put it onto DVD. Quality not great, but certainly watchable. For a couple of pints I'm sure a copy could be found somewhere in my collection .....
