I'd be amazed if Arnesen allowed anyone else to get involved in recruitment, It was what he was brought in to do.
Rodgers may have had some involvement in assessing players and would definitely have coached him but not the dodgy stuff.
Chelsea are the only club in the country who employ a Director of Tapping Up.

...who was tapped up himself iirc! The whole business reminded me of this story...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/footbal ... 629867.stm

One of our promising youngsters pilfered by Chelsea shortly after Brendan left. Hmmm...
What happened to him anyway? I seem to remember he came back to Reading. Lyskov that is!

Deathy
Royal Lady I don't suppose BR had any dealings in bringing this guy to Chelsea did he?

How would a reserve team manager do that?

When he was involved with the Youth Team? But in any case, it appears this all happened after he became Reserve Team Manager, so he wasn't involved.

Or
THOMAS LYSKOV (Reading)

The 18-year-old returned to Reading after failing to settle at Chelsea, but left their Academy this summer following work experience at Aldershot Town. He was hoping to secure a place at Loughborough University.

I have heard in the past from Reading sources that Lyskov was one of our big hopes for the future.

He seems to have upped and left. Does anyone know what the rules are regarding under 18 players that have been in the Academy for years. Surely they must be tied to the club in some way as otherwise there would not be all this hassle over Kakuta and Chelsea, but it does seem odd to me that would just let a really promising player like Lyskov walk away.

Can anyone shed light on this? I assume we would get compensation if he signs elsewhere under the player under 24 rule.

never signed YTS forms at the club. Us and CHelsea both offered him YTS forms and he went there. HE hated it there and came back to sign YTS forms here. Subsequently lost his love for the game and went back to college i believe

He accepted me on facebook and had a quick 'i watched you play once' chat with him on there, seems like he decided football wasn't by the 'love for the game and nothing else' he thought it was, and kinda stopped playing to follow a 'real' career as such. Plus judging by his pictures hes put on a few pounds

What a waste of talent. They say youth is wasted on the young. Most of us would give a lot to be a professional sportsman and if there was the vaguest chance would give it our all. He was supposed to be really talented. Disappointing.

Professional Football wasn't what he thought it would and he wasn't just in it for the money, I admire his convictions.

I also blame chelsea... :?

Figment of my imagination - Gael Kakuta loan

by Row Z Royal » 21 Nov 2009 23:34

A few snippets on MOTD show this kid to be lively to say the least. A bit of first team football in a footballing team might do him (and us) a great deal of good.

Go on Rodgers, impress us with these amazing connections of yours.

He's played for Chelsea this weekend and you think we can get him. I'll have a pint of what you're drinking.
