Because those players are each capable of winning matches on their own through "moments of spectacular skill" and are several classes above anything we could hope to afford?

I just thought it was really boring.

It's all very well passing it about but at some point you have to try and score, from what I saw today the team passed in neat little triangles before someone then gave it away.

Kebe and Cummings were embarassing, there was masses of space down the right in the second half yet neither attacked it.

I don't think much of Rosenior, but he would have attacked that space.

I can't really see why we're playing 4-5-1 at home, 4-3-3 it aint.

Royalee Usual crap from the usual suspects on here...

Not the best of games - I put that down to the number of players we've had coming in and the international break, we'll improve. We looked solid at the back, Howard looked a good acquisition, Cummings did what was required and we deserved to win. We were disjointed and the game was a bit scrappy at times but I think we'll steadily improve rather like England have done under Capello.

The thing I think could speed this process up the quickest is if someone was to volunteer to take Kebe back to the circus - he offered Cummings no support going forward, didn't track back and even began tackling our own players today, can't someone give him a kick in training to keep him out for a while?

You don't half speak some garbage but you have excelled here!

"Not the best of games" CHRIST ON A BIKE, IT WAS AWFUL!!!

The only person supplying our one man forward line was the one man forward line.
I`m sorry but at home at least take the game to the opposition.

Most clubs that install a new manager have some sort of impetus. Wheres ours?

By the way your love child picks Kebe.

Cummings needs to learn when the time is right to release the ball for Kebe he waited too late on a few occasions, but was solid defensively so I'm not going to criticise him too much.

So we bought players not ready to shine at this level, it is all about degree surely, and the level of league the players are bought in to perform at, we seem to have got it wrong at this moment in time.

No it's got nothing to do with degrees of anything, you just don't get players that good at this level.

The better the players the less time they need to gel into a new team if at all.

Royalee - weren't you the one preaching on about how fantastic it was that Rodgers was giving the youngsters a chance at long last? Where were Davies, Robson-Kanu, Church, Henry.... he only gave them a chance because he had no-one else he could play because he had to get rid of everyone else. Now he's been given some money, he's brought in other players - not all of them young ones. So why aren't you now complaining that he's not playing the youngsters?

Zac - so you're saying our players aren't very good then. :P

Seeing as we got him because he's an attacking fullback (according to Rogers anyway), I thought he was dogsh*t myself. Utterly petrified of getting forward into the final 3rd, or going near any defender, and just floated in rubbish balls instead

Mind you, have to giggle at fact he's easily led by the crowd. A few times in the 2nd half he stopped going forward when he had room to carry on, and it was only after shouting from the crowd that he then continued

We looked like what we were, a team that had never played together before.

I struggle to see where we go from here but there were some positives, when Marek came on we looked much more dangerous and Rasiak certainly puts himself about. Cummings had a lot of the ball and seemed nervous and indecisive, he was still better than Rosenior.

ellpryjon Ref was pretty dire, hopelessly inconsistent, and oblivious to time-wasting.

I'm actually getting quite tired of this, week after week team sit back and timewaste and get away with a point. They must be really scared of coming to a premiership club to play like that. It's probably fortunate for us that we get a point given how poor the team is playing.

They've brought in players who are the finished article and are all used to playing in a certain way, we're bringing on younger players and totally changing our style and haven't spent £200 million or so.

Have to laugh at the muppets slagging off Cummings. Very solid defensively, put some decent balls in, obviously there would be a lack of understanding between him and Kebe but that will get better.

Howard was brilliant at times. Struggled to find space though in a very negative Doncaster midfield.

Pearce is simply too slow on the ball. Ivar back ASAP please.

Overall a decent performance. Could have had a couple of goals, and never looked like conceding (O'Dea is a class act). Bring on Cardiff.

P.S. FAO Ideal, you weren't at the game, so kindly oxf*rd off this thread. Ta.

Did I miss something or did Pearce, Karacan and Sigurdsson all start with Church on the bench? Henry's not good enough, we knew that, and the other two had been on international duty - you really should work on your arguments because they don't stack up.

Doncaster are a team that finished 17th or so last season and will be down there again this season. Funnily enough they played the better football at times and I clapped that move they did in the first half of 5/6 intricate passes and almost a peach of a final ball through on the right of our penalty area. Our team is so clueless and lackluster in midfield and attack that we let them have a large part of the game and we could have lost that - we are dull going forward and have absolutely no idea how to create chances other than from set pieces. Rasiak was a half chance but a brilliant save from sullivan who was class.
In defence we are fine, o'dea looked solid as did bertrand- neither will be here next season and pearce did some very good bits of play and I have high hopes for him. Cummings didn't impress me and at times I thought I was watching snoop dogg at right back rather than a pro-footballer. It was his first game though so i'll give him time.

Couldn't be bothered booing at full time like some did as I simply cannot be arsed anymore. 15,600 when we were in the prem 3 years ago says it all really. Club on the decline and people have lost interest.

Not looking forward to cardiff on wednesday, 4,000 moody, noisy and drunken away fans up for revenge for last season. Can see them having a right party when they tie the game up with a chopra goal. Expect your bollox taunted off all night over how crap we are.

He looked a bit nervous of exposing the space behind him i'll give you that, but there was poor movement in general on the right side of the pitch.. most of the time there wasn't a decent pass on.

Who ever text in R.106, saying that they didn't think Rogers was the man for the job... really sounded like the kind of person who sat in front of me today and went 'who are all these players, what was wrong with coppells team'! ARGHHHHHH

Good performance today and as shaun said, if your not going to win, your better off withh a draw and a clean sheet which gives the defence even more of a boost and helps them gel which will have its effect further up the pitch, than loose.
