Phil Parkinson took over from Pardew as caretaker manager on 11th November 2008. In his first 12 Championship fixtures he lost 9 and drew 3, giving him 3 points out of a possible 36 (about 8% of maximum points).

In Brendan Rodgers' first 7 games as Reading manager, he has taken 6 points out of a possible 21 (about 29% of maximum points).

Admittedly, Rodgers has had a very poor start judging on his results, but Parkinson also had a very poor start at Charlton. I think we should give Rodgers some time to turn things around. Charlton have had a great start this season, and I am really pleased for Parky. I would love for him to get a chance to manage Reading one day as he is a Reading legend.

Parky is showing he is a good manager at League 1 level, , has not cut it so far in The Championship.

Better comparison would have been to have used his time at Hull, 24 games, 21 points, then replaced, relegation avoided and the rest is history.

Ideal ...Charlton are top of league one, 19 points, +12 goal difference after only 7 matches played.
They must have a really good manager. Whoever could it be??
Maybe this is the man we should have got..

I cannot imagine the sh*tstorm that would have taken place on here if we'd had to tolerate Charlton or Hull's level of performance under Parkinson. And you'd be at the front of the sh*t-slinging crowd.

Ideal 250 league matches as manager >>>>>> 30 league matches as manager

How many of those are at Championship level?

If you can find out and then make a point comparision for the games then you might (might) just be able to salvage some self-respect from what is quite possibly the dumbest thread yet this season. Which given the competition is quite astonishing.

Easy to work out, but not really worth it, was good at colchester, then thought he was better and went to Hull, fecked that up big time, hardly took Charlton by storm when he took over from Pardew.

Had he stayed at Colchester he might well now be manager of Reading, same as mcghee, had he stayed then had we gone up or gone close would have been in the running for the Arsenal job, instead of B Rioch.

Charlton have a more settled and experienced squad than we do, they did not throw everyone out and start from scratch like Clodagh has had to do.

It's a good theory - get Parky to take us down to League One so that we could boss that division. At least we'd get to see a home win, I guess!

Has someone mistaken Ideal for a seal and accidently clubbed out what tiny brain he may have once had?

What a legacy he's left them. Bodes well for our future.

Well he took a team destined for relegation to mid table. That's a fairly decent record you could say. Baring in mind Burnley were down the bottom at this time last season, our season may well still be a very positive one

Ian Royal Has someone mistaken Ideal for a seal and accidently clubbed out what tiny brain he may have once had?

Have to admit I've been rather surprised from his transformation from a reasoned, sensible poster to a numpty.

Didn't he take them down last yr? Or was it a combination of him and PArdew? A manager who did wonders for this club? Hmm maybe we should have thought about this a little before we wrote this thread? Maybe we don't have as much football knowledge as we think...

Ideal? Reasonable and sensible? I don't think he has ever been that. Generally the leader in the ridiculous knee-jerk response brigade over the years. Gawd bless 'im.

I hear Hull fans really rate him which is why he's in League 1. He also did really well getting relegated last season, we should definitely get him.

Any manager that is filling up our club with players from the despicable Chelsea can oxf*rd right off IMO

Parkinson may or may not do as well as Rodgers, but at least he would not rely on the academy of a disgusting club like Chelsea.

We would go down fighting as a club. Not with half of our defence made up of loan signings
