After today's results, the three who will go down are already in the bottom four: Barnsley, Plymouth and us.

The second half today was the worst I've seen us play since we got dicked by Wimbledon.

Ian, I thought the palace 3-0 was worse. I remember seeing us totally outplayed at Derby a few years back - 3-0. Was it along those lines?

Percy's Rocket but there must be three teams who will end up worse off than us.

We've all heard that one before...

I love that old logic!

I wasn't too excited when we were 2-0 up today, as for Peterborough were the only side in the division guaranteed to finish below us.

I've been away for a week, we've failed to score in 2 games at home, and now lost at Peterborough. From the threads I have read, it seems clear that a) the players at Rodgers' disposal are not good enough, and b) that nevertheless Rodgers' gameplan is confused, and that the team is not a cohesive unit.

Imho, the side is a complete and utter mess. Full of players with less than 10 or 20 Reading appearances under their belts - its like a brand new side mashed together, and playing in the second tier of English football. If we survive, it's not going to be pretty. At the moment, there's little evidence, imho, that we can avoid relegation.

I've only got so many games to compare it to. I didn't see a lot of Burn's seasons, but it was Bullivantesque. Wimbledon was the only of the 3-0s I saw. And it was worse than today, but the second half was damn close.

If we see much more of what I witnessed today, we will go down.

It is one thing to have a team that can win games but it is far more important for a team to know how to win ugly. Sheff Utd were ugly last night and against us. Cardiff were ugly against us. Who do we have in the team who could start a fight in an empty room? Where are the strong personalities and characters? We are too soft. We are too nice. We need to find some steel and get some fire in our bellies. Not just the players but the fans as well. Everything is just too comfortable and. dare I say it, middle class. We need to get real!

There are 5 grounds currently in League One I have never been to with the added incentive of a possible local derby with play-off chasing Aldershot. What is not to like about relegation?

Yes Eamon is stil in charge of the Academy and would have been a better choice as manager IMHO

Are we good enough for League 1?

by Terminal Boardom » 26 Sep 2009 22:14

May 2009 and we were 90 minutes from returning to the Premier League. 4 months on and we lie in 21st place, 1 win and only 2 goals scored at home. If the worst happens, and we are relegated, how will we fare in League 1?
