Maguire I'd probably just continue doing what I'm doing, continue training the team towards the style of football I want them to play, continue to turn out performances that are rarely second best to our opposition, and take some measure of relief when the team starts to get some positive results.

Oh and play Kebe more coz he's skillz.

rarely second best? W1 D3 L4

That suggest we have been 2nd best on 4 occasions out of 8

he said performances not results

Thanks.

I think we had the better of Donny, Forest and Cardiff at home, and didn't play badly against the Blades, just a terrible error from Federici that cost us the game.

If I were the manager, I would stop wearing tank tops

:shock: I wouldn't say that......i know they didn't test us but i wouldn't have said we had the better of them, it was an even (boring) game.

Can't beat a bit of Ralph. The players let Ralph down more than anything.

They didn't get near our goal, we had shots tipped round the post and clawed out of the top corner. It was dull but we had the better of it.

I disagree

The stats show it was more of less even, we didn't really have the better of them in terms of shots.

Shots on target
* Reading 5
* Doncaster 5

Shots off target
* Reading 3
* Doncaster 4

I don't care about the "stats" say, a football match isn't an equation. We had better chances and shaded what was a dull game.

The point is, I'd be more worried if we were getting played off the park for 90 mins but we're not. Only Newcastle have really given us the runaround over the course of a whole game. I think the performances have been largely sound, just lacking a bit in front of goal.

I'm with Maguire on this one.

I don't think we've been that bad yet. We've obviously not been as good as we were a few seasons ago but that's hardly surprising and anyone what thought we'd be able to rip the heart out of the squad and replace it with these up and coming young pro's and a few average Championship players is a little naive.

I think Rodgers has made a bit of a rod for his own back with some of his hype and silly soundbites, but I do think we're moving in the right direction. It's going to take time to make these lads battle hardened, and that was always my main concern going into the season that we were throwing too many of them in together and not within an experienced team who could support them a bit more.

I'm not sure what I'd do. At the same time I haven't been in the sport for over 15 years. I wasn't a coach at Chelsea and taken lots of advice from Jose Mourinho. Equally I don't have a decent managerial record after a short spell at Watford. Neither did I spend half the summer speaking about being world class and other such like claims.

I'm all up for giving Rodgers time, I still think this team can work. That's what I'd do were I manager, keep the hard work going and it will hopefully all come into place often enough. However, should fans want to moan about results and performances without giving too many solutions themselves, they are entitled to considering the above.

I don't think Rodgers claimed to be world class.

He didn't say he did. Rodgers has spouted forth about a "world class model" - which is what he seems to think Reading will be.

Raise fitness levels, Posh finished stronger than us.
Then turn to more important issues.... such as getting rid of our cretin of a PA announcer.

TBM So Rodgers doesn't know his strongest team yet - do you?
The loan window is open - who would you bring in (realistically)?
What formation would you play?
What style of football would you play?

Lots of people are moaning about Rodgers on here, but in all honestly what would you do - if you were manager?

I'd return to a 4-4-2 for a start:

-------------------------- HAMER --------------------------

CUMMINGS --- O'DEA --- INGIMARSSON --- BERTRAND

McANUFF --- CISSE -- MATEJOVSKY --- ROBSON-KANU

------------------ RASIAK -------- HUNT ------------------

Subs: Federici, Pearce, Armstrong, Gunnarsson, Karacan, Sigurdsson, Church.

I cannot believe that anyone who has actually been to any games wouldn't realise that the place to start is getting rid of that sodding drummer.

If I knew how to get the best out of the players how to coach them to win and play the right tactics I wouldnt be doing it for a living earning loads of money and wearing a big watch.

I'd do exactly what he's doing.

Experiment and learn.

Go Brendan!

I agree, but he needs to shut up about the playoffs and raising expectations.......
