Adam Federici thinks Reading will win by 6 or 7 nil soon.

Adam Federici has warned Reading’s Championship rivals that one of them will be on the wrong end of footballing master-class soon.

The 24-year-old goalkeeper feels that even though the 21st-placed Royals haven’t got going in the league so far this season, a big result is just around the corner.

And the Australian international would love it if the team could put it all together against manager Brendan Rodgers’ old side Watford this Saturday at Madejski Stadium (3pm kick-off).

The confident 6ft 2ins keeper said: “I’m sure in the future there will be teams that will cop six or seven from us because some of the football we’ve been playing has been superb.

“We’re just waiting for that win big win to get our confidence back and we can go on from there.

“The boys have got a lot to prove and I really do believe that in the next few games someone’s going to get four or five nil from us.

“Slowly but surely it’s all coming together. It’s only eight games in and it’s a long way to go.

“We have so much talent in this group and we all just need to click together for the full 90 minutes.”

After the defeat some fans have heavily criticised Northern Irishman Rodgers after Royals have managed just one win, three draws and suffered four defeats in the league.

But Federici admitted that anyone calling for the manager to be sack was wrong.

“That’s a bit ridiculous,” confessed Federici.

“Brendan’s a fantastic manager and I don’t think managers ever come into a job straight away and get it right.

“It took a few years for Steve Coppell to get everything right here and everyone needs to be patient, the results will come the way things are set up here and we got a preview of that in the first 45 on the weekend.”

Can we just stop talking about what players say to the media?

It means nothing.

What I'm trying to say is that you can't take much from what the players say.

People jumped all over one throw away comment from Fed at the weekend and others will jump on this.

This is Feds way of getting back in good books after Saturdays comment. Which in itself IS actually quite interesting cause it shows how media obsessed the club is becoming.

Federici is right - we are a bit of confidence short of being a good team again. Someone will feel the pent up frustration before too long I think.

Personally, I think Adam Federici has only said this to cover up his "pathetic pathetic pathetic" comment and is unlikely to really believe we will win by a large margin..

He's had a dream where he was picking the ball out of the net 6 or 7 times.... just not sure about his interpretation though

nappa you just summed up the Swansea(A) game, he saved a pen and kept us in it.

Yes please.

I think these sort of media out pourings show a complete lack of understanding of where we are right now tbh. There is no way we'll score more than 3 goals playing the formation that has width, because it lacks cutting edge and creativity.

There is no way we'll score a load and not conceed if we play the narrow formation.

We need a massive change in performance and fortune to stick away 6 or 7 and it hasn't looked very close in any of the games I've seen so far.

I don't mind positivity, or even exaggerated positivity. But please, lets stay within the realms of the realistic until we've actually won a couple of games shall we? Or perhaps turned up and performed well for a whole 90 minutes.

Oh and heavy criticsm is not the same as calling for a head now. It's just laying the ground work for the next few months in case.

Heard.
It.
All.
Before.

I think that some rent-a-quote like Stuart bloody Lovell came out with a line like this every week during the 97/98 season  . Besides, if Federici is playing the best we can hope for is a 4 or 5-2 8)
