Follow their 2 dreadful defensive mistakes today and one on Thursday night, could Celtic be about to recall Darren O'Dea?

Could be worse. Lita left him for dead for his goal yesterday and he hardly covered himself in glory against Watford. Let him go and stick either Mills or Cisse alongside Ivar.

That's funny, he's looked the best player we have on the three occasions I've seen him.

You're blaming a central defender for not picking up an opposing defender making a late run into the box (first Boro goal)?
Shirley that's a striker's or midfielder's job.
Agree that he was badly at fault for their second goal.

Re the Watford goal, I thought he looked at fault, but Mick Gooding blamed Federici.

Its football....nobodies perfect

D O'D looks like the imposing figure that you want in that position

Ivar is GOD

However, faced with a quick attacker, they are both marooned.............Cummings (despite his worthy critcism) mopped up for them at least twice, in the first half alone

Ivar was meant to be picking up St. Ledger at set plays yesterday, and for their first he didn't.

Its what happens.............twenty great "well-read" clearances are irrelevent when the one f11ck-up leads to a goal.......the defence and goalie are there to be sniped at

(for strikers) KD's lack of goals since January (and his get-out-of-jail) was put down to a lack of supply..................

The lack of pace in the central defence right now is a worry tho'

i liek the lad, seems a good player, makes teh occasional oxf*rd up when being over run

but i just dont see the point iof him if we have 2m mills on the bench, basically we are just working to improve a celtic player, as soon as hes good enough he'll be off

thoigh by the sound of his interview in teh programme he couldnt wait to get away

He's a good player, but he worries me. He has had dangerously slack moments now against Watford and Boro. A loan player has no deep commitment to the cause and may become less interested if the team struggles. The same applies to Bertrand.

I put down a good deal of Charlton's problems last season to loan players. Some were not committed to the cause and Bouazza left during the Christmas window, leaving them depleted. We don't want to get into the same mess. No one saw Charlton's demise coming last year.

What are the chances of extending his loan past January?

Combining the fact he's not starting for us at the moment and given the evidence of the Celtic defending against Falkirk on Sunday I'd say absolutely nil. Which is a shame in a way because I think he's a genuinely quality player.

When he came he made no bones about the fact that his aim is to get in the Celtic team and that he chose Reading as the club where he thought he could learn most towards that end. Presumably that was based on Rodgers's reputation as a coach. I wouldn't be surprised if O'Dea is now less sure about that, but who knows?

I can only think of two scenarios whereby he might stay. If Celtic tell him to. And if it he gives up the idea of making it at Celtic and decides to consider a future at this level instead. If I were him or Mowbray, I might be questioning the value of the present loan rather than thinking of extending it.

+1

Why would they want to extend the loan when he cannot even make the starting eleven for a team that is coming 3 last in the Championship ?

He will return the Celtic in January.

wasnt he injured, and then hasnt made it back due to not being part of rodgers new settled better team

its either that or we were made aware that hed be taken back in jan, and therefore its pointless playing him, unless required to do so through injury to incumbents
