I think a lot of people are making their assumptions on whether Rangers or Celtic would survive in the Premiership NOW with their squads as they are NOW. If these two massive clubs were to join the premiership next year, they would invest heavily in their squads in order to compete and could easily attract some of the best talent in the world to play for them, especially if they could now offer premiership football.
Take this scenario: Celtic and Glasgow finish first and second in the SPL. Thus qualifying for Champions league football. Next season they are elected to join the Premiership. This would increase their revenue greatly due to Sky Sports money etc and increase their already strong global brands so they would be able to offer competitve wages consistently.
As a top player, who would you rather sign and play for? Celtic or Rangers? Or some also ran premiership team like Everton, Blackburn or Bolton?
I would imagine it would only take 2 or 3 seasons for both of these teams to adjust to premiership life and would soon compete with the Big 4.
