southwest royals

by Devon royal » 03 Sep 2009 16:08

Along with my partner we are trying to get the Southwest Royals up and running again, we are not sure quite what is required from the exiles in the southwest, as the area is rather large, from Swindon to Cornwall up to Gloucestershire........we are located in Yeovil Somerset , we both originate from the Thames Valley so hence the Reading connection.
Any Southwest exiles please get in touch with your thoughts on what is required ....thank you

I think that is a very big area. Surely would be better to leave out Swindon. Maybe start after Bristol.

I live in Exeter by the way.

I tend to agree with you , but at the moment we have, or are trying to find the extent of our area, from my point of view i think the southwest should be Somerset, Devon and Cornwall......surely Wiltshire is not really an exile...i work in Exeter and only moved to Yeovil this spring.

Yeah, Swindon is only half an hour's drive up to Reading!

You work in Exeter and live in Yeovil? Isn't that hell of a commute?

50 mins? Every time I travel there with my team, it feels like over an hour!

EDIT: Just realised that we actually go to Sherbourne for our game, so it's a little bit further that fools me into thinking it's a lot longer.

Anyway, re the southwest royals, I'm not sure what benefits it'd offer. I only go to games every now and then, especially in April, May and August! And I usually travel up by train.

However, meeting up socially is something I wouldn't mind, especially if Reading is on TV.

I know there are Royals in Exeter, Torquay, Plymouth, Dawlish and Teignmouth as well as Newton Abbott, so there are quite a few in Devon, and im pretty sure there are quite a few in Somerset also, Shirley and I will keep plugging away as see what happens. We can only get things going if there is enough support and the will to do so...

It's not in the South West.

Try starting the Welsh exiles...

Except that South Wales isn't exactly southwest of Bristol.

Gloucester is North East of Bristol - are they not in the South-West then?

Dunno, I'm not an expert, but I'd always thought, as you travel along the M4 and then onto the M5, that the South-West starts at Bristol.

Might Gloucester be classified as West Midlands or is it between that and South West?

FFS Spacey get a life, they are not just talkng about the South West as Somerset would be, they are talking about a larger geographical area, or would you rather they devided the country into dozens of small areas for exiled royals.

Where would Reading be for exiled colchester fans, South, western, south western, stick to the weather, or move to wales.
