Team for QPR

by John Peel » 17 Oct 2009 17:22

We lost, get over it. If we're still here at the end of November then I'll join the rest in calling for his head.

Fed - bring in Hamer, great shot stopping isn't enough - we need a commanding keeper in the area
Cummings - anyone but, so I say Gunnar
Ingi - same
Mills - same
Bertrand - same if fit
Cisse - same
Karacan - same
Howard - anyone but, so bring in Marek or Sig
Mcanuff - same
Kebe - same
Nhunt - same

I wanted to make more changes (e.g. Tabb) but we a bit of consistency in team selection where possible.

Why try and pick?

Mills scored, so he'll be dropped. Cummings was awful, so he'll stay in... etc etc

And LOL at putting an old man with no legs at right back for a full 90.

Federici
Cummings, O'Dea, Mills, Bertrand
Davies, Siggurdsson, Karacan, McAnuff
Hunt, Long

Hamer, Cisse, Gunnarsson, Matejovsky, Kebe, HRK, Church

Assuming no one was injured and I could recall Davies from loan.

Agree. Picking a team is a pointless exercise. Rodgers is giving a great impression of a manager who hasn't a clue, so why would you expect his players, in a team moulded to his shape (and in his image) to be any different?

Another deafeat beckons I'm afraid at QPR, possibly a heavy one seeing as we're now as useless in defence as we are in attack. At this rate, the home clash with Ispwich in a few weeks time will be between the bottom two.

Plenty with McAnuff, and Davies can play wide. It's not as wide as Coppell's 4-4-2, but it also has more creativity through the centre and is less vulnerable on the flanks.

And you have Kebe to come on as an impact sub and give you greater width if necessary.

Er, I'm trying to make the point that Cummings is our worst signing since Omar Daley. Put Rasiak at right back then, he'd be better than Cummings.

F*ck me, you two are full of joy aren't you :D (I actually usually agree with a lot of what you say, Deathy, before you start the insults)

^ Agree about Kebe as an impact sub. No problem with Davies in the side but would put him more central. I'd still like Matejovsky in there but agree with you about Siggy who should certainly be in the team so its difficult to play them both. I don't rate McAnuff...never have and wouldn't play him.
Also concur re Howard...don't rate him.

I just don't think we can afford the luxury of two wingers with only two central midfielders. But we certainly can't afford one striker.

I honestly think Matejovsky has contributed basically nothing in his time here. McAnuff has not had games as good as Kebe, but then I think he's consistently played to a better level so far overall.

How we can not play the only player we've got with multiple assists, and stick to one striker when we aren't scoring enough is beyond me.

Maybe Tabb should play at full-back but its not exactly his best position. Besides BR will not put him in the side will he?

I don't normally agree with what you have to say but I do with your first two points.

Normally I would disagree with your last point but I'm starting to think that we should just give 4-4-2 to a go. I like the formations Rodgers has tried and think that some of the football we've played with the diamond has been the best since 06/07 but ultimately it hasn't been successful. I'd go with the today's back 4 (I wasn't at the game so will hold judgement on Cummings but I am worried by him) but when I come to the midfield I'm stuck. There are so many options but none of them seem right.

Quite a few are putting Davies in but isn't he at Wycombe?
If Jerome Thomas caused havoc today I am fearful of what Routledge will do up against our full-backs.

Go with the same for some consistency, Tabb for Cummings, if he stays in we need a pitch invasion at the point the line up is mentioned, and Matejovsky for Howard. Both out couldn't even make the bench in my opinion.
